Thank you for the little mention of me in your video. On your cleaning solution, you didn't say how much water you used. On most of my LINES, I thought they were white when I dug in mine. I like the paint you use and easier than the pen I used.

I don't add any water to mine. My ultrasound machine is small enough that it doesn't take much to mix up a batch. I would probably add some if my tank was a couple gallons, just for filler. I did a lot of research on the design lines in Adamantine. They are pencil drawings in the catalogs of the time and no mention of what the different materials are. I think the white you saw may have been old wax. I only discovered the color in cleaning out the round holes first. I thought mine had no color, but I knew when I was sanding, that more wax kept getting pulled out of the lines onto the case. So when I took the metal pick and got it all out, the color popped surprisingly well.

Love what you are doing with the clock. Glad that you found one that looks like yours and now in the video I can see the lines that you have cleaned out and it is looking sharp. I think that you misunderstood what I said or I didnt clearly explain myself (and that is why I keep telling people that you are a better teacher than myself) as my ADHD that kicked in to overdrive when I turned 50 prevents me from staying 100% focused. I might have had ADHD all my life. I am not for sure. Typically on clocks the time side is the most important on bushings but as you are finding sometimes if the strike side is so worn out that the bushing wear will stop your clock and stop the clock from striking. Typically I am working on cuckoo clocks which has been my focus and why I started a you tube channel to answer peoples questions. So on cuckoo clocks typically the time side is what I am focusing on. I have talked about some bushings on the strike side such as when I was helping Ron work on his clocks and the second wheel on the strike side bushing was so worn out that it needed a bushing. I even have videos where I say if your clock is stopping to not only look at the time side chains but to look at the strike side chains as they too can cause your clock to stop. You have done a wonderful job restoring this clock. It is freakin beautiful. Love it. It is very nice of you to go ahead and order from that guy who is slow. I think that I should order some of those screws. You did a heck of a job. Keep it up teacher. Love it. Thanks for the shout out.

Thanks for the comments. I think it is rare for the strike side to need much just because it's action is not continuous like the time side. But after 100+ years, there is wear on that side too. I found another issue that I'm going to talk about in that video that is stopping the clock. Not sure it needs bushings. If you don't have a good test stand that lets you see both sides of a movement and you work on a lot of clocks, I would suggest getting one. I never would have seen this problem with the movement in the case. I think the case came out beautiful too! Much more striking looking than when I got it. This is the first clock I bought after I inherited the cuckoo clocks and grandfather clock last year. Thanks for watching!

Cheryl, I was looking into how to clean Adamantine recently. The generic name for this type of coating is "Bakelite", and I've seen multiple people report that Brasso works really well to restore the lustre. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4bYmnauZrh-jJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXqWmneknr-Bl9k
