I'm in need of 73 brake calipers. My car that I inherited had none. Local store will not sell me their SS sleeved calipers without cores. Can you help please? Best channel ever.

I’m glad i found this channel i’m almost 60 years of age and i’ve been aware of the Corvette Birdcage issues for many years honestly i actually thought there was way more Structual to them surrounding the Passengers safety i’ve owned 17 or 18 boats in my life some Wood some Fiberglass and i must say when a Fiberglass boat gets hit hard or falls off a Trailer on the Highway they don’t come out of it very well unless it was a Hand laid older Hull around a quater inch thick of Fiberglass ,Resin, and Gelcoat and i know most Corvettes are not that thick at least the C3s,4s and up I’ve seen in Boats it seams that any vessel built after 1975 has gone to using Molds and the ChopStrand Gun process and don’t have that kind of thickness

Hey Craig, great observations on the boats and older fiberglass construction versus the newer machine produced SMC glass. I always caution my customers that drive C3's to exercise caution at high speeds, as there isn't much protection against serious injury or death in the event of accident. The C4 and C5 Corvettes made up for the weakness in the birdcage by creating a unitized chassis that is extremely strong and hold ups well even at higher speeds.

Looking forward to more details on body mounts and removing the body. I’m giving serious consideration to removing the body on my ‘76 prior to changing out the engine. Your expertise and insights are always welcomed.

Rusty sounds good. I'll have a video out in the next couple of weeks once I release the body from the frame.

Quick question: if I want to replace those rubbers ( 4 on each side) can I do a side at a time? Better yet: what is the proper way to replace rubber grommets?
@VetteSource2 жыл бұрын
Hey Rea, yes you can do one side at a time without having to dismantle the entire car. You can see more detail in the video below kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ3PdmSZmLV7mqs

Looks like a 73 with a wide body

Good catch, it had the 73 front end grafted on to it at some time in its past, probably when it was customized. It's actually a 72. I was finally able to find the image of the VIN I took when I first acquired it all those years ago.

@@VetteSource Crazy that they did that to a chrome bumper car

For sure, back in the mid 70's they were just a 2 or 3 year old Corvette that needed to be updated to look as cool as the new ones. Sound familiar?😁
