Funny peoples sense of value, I’m older, mid 50’s, grew up with muscle cars, ‘67 Camaro, ‘70 Charger etc. Scanning through market place and saw 2 ads nest to each other, one for a c4 vette for $5k the other for a ‘70 chevelle for $75k, amusing because in reality the C4 is a much better more advanced vehicle in so many ways, doesn’t make quite the power in stock for form at least. Most car guys can’t seem to even wrap their head around that fact. Lol. BTW I work aviation industry also, major avionics manufacturer.
@VetteSource
@VetteSource 2 сағат бұрын
Very true, C4s are an undervalued and underappreciated sports car. My thoughts are that for many of the casual DIY, so-called "gearhead" types, they understand on a simplistic level that these cars are more complex. Therefore, when they break down, they must be junk because the older cars are simpler to work on, and they are lost on how to repair the new ones. This myth has become so widespread amongst the mob that you can't reason with people otherwise. For guys like us who are used to the more complex machinery and electronics found in aviation, this era presents the mechanical challenge that we are used to and love to play with. With that being said, I was in the garage earlier tinkering with my 67 Corvette😁

I have a 93 I have replaced the fuel pump fuel pressure regulator fuel filter filters positioning sensor is a problem. the problem I am trying to get rid of. Is when you start it it runs great or about 10 minutes and then just shut right off like flipping a switch if I put a little fluid in there to test to see ifFuel is a problem it tries to start which tells me that the spark is fine but there’s a fuel problem so what is it shut down like that?

That's the best gm ever did get someone else to build them a engine. Heck look at geo a chevy luv gm did not build them, because they needed something reliable to sell t the time. Gm's technology today is still obsolete. Look at the auto manufactures now copying ford's eco boost and that's old tech compared what was done overseas 20 plus years ago. It does not take much to impress Chevy fans and that lt5 lotus built 350 would be today more complicated than their low iq's could comperhend. Hell it's decades ahead of this ls garbage, oh and their failed dod just like in the early 80's caddy cracks junk then junk now. That lt5350 zf 6 speed was and would scare the holy shit out of a fella they were so quick, was in a sloppy built very unengineered untamed gm chassis (try holding that crap in the road at 140 plus, topped out at 180ish). I wrenched on several and it was a refreshing thought that i was not working on a pos dime a million 350 chevy garbage That's littered trailer parks, ghetto's and junk yards all over the world deemed the best engine ever BULL CRAP, but gm folks think so. I grew up in a gm family, buy new one day and work on them every weekend there after. Heck the 2 most reliable cars my mother ever had was a 1977 ford country squire station wagon 460 v8, had to buy in wyoming cause we left bama in a 76 chevy wagon (always smelling gas fumes no one could find , but it found it itself FIRE on highway and major electrical grimlins nobody could figure out (STUPID 70's LO IQ GM TECHS) and it burnt to the ground on the side of the road less than 2500 miles on it, and a 1985 chrysler newyorker 318 v8 when her 1981 olds 88 350 POS diesel blew in the tennessee mountains (4th engine replaced blew again and 5th engine installed) those were 2 fine examples of GM junk, crap, quality, (LTD wagon got T-Boned totalled in Tuscaloosa, AL1981). Better watch where you mow in high grass in america you will ruin your mower when you hit that 350,327,302,305,283 in knee deep weeds or a th350 400 trans which when running at one time in a hooptie or a meth heads transportation for supplies for the meth lab, colt45's, weed crack etc. I know gm fans love their ???? but Their's a lot better built stuff out there, was totota, honda but oh hell horse and buggy omish style it, Come on yoder hit those hores with some nitrous and get the hell outta my way. Last week i bought a 1989 gmc surburban 4x4/ so i'm just asking for it guess what, 700r4 trans out another fine pos gm transmission/prouduct to fix and flip.

All you had to do is remove the steering wheel and the molding around the cluster. I've done that job and all that you did was not necessary.
@VetteSource
@VetteSource 7 күн бұрын
It's necessary if you're not interested in having an airbag with a 30 year old explosive cartridge blow up in your face while attempting to remove it. Furthermore, since much of my audience will be first-time wrenchers, I illustrate the easiest method of getting to the cluster that only requires the removal of 2 steering column bolts as opposed to figuring out the steering wheel puller. Thanks for the input and Happy New Year👍

@VetteSource Hey whatever works for you. I was only saying that there is an easier and faster method. The airbag won't deploy unless you do something really stupid to make it deploy. Removing it is very simple. Happy new year to you also.

I have to do this upgrade on my 2002 silverado, have the update kit, but I wanted to ask if you thought I would be able to manage this with a motor already in the truck? Hey buddy, thanks for the sub, and lad.to hear it was helpful. With the components removed that you mentioned, you shouldn't have too much problem hetying in there to make the change out. There will be lots of room for your tools. The hardest part will be leaning over the core support to get the leverage you need for the gear puller and installer. Have a great New Year👍

#2 will be the very first spark plug on the passenger side. I would start by pulling plug wires while the engine is running to see if you notice any difference, then move on to investigating potential wiring damage.

Great job on this truck. I love the old Chevy's. I currently have a 1992 1500 Scottsdale 5.0 with 5 speed manual and a 2001 2500 8.1 Vortec short bed extended cab with the Allison transmission. Great truck that I use to tow a 10K track loader. It has 177K miles, uses some oil but otherwise it runs great and everything on it works.

The coupe and Vert speakers were different in a couple ways, the amps were slightly different, this was to make the sound slightly different to suit the differences in the interior. I personally can't tell enough difference to know what is changed, my hearing is not what it used to be, but they do sound great when they are working correctly.
@VetteSource

Subscribed. 56yr old metalhead here with 3 F-bodies in the garage. '88 IROC-Z28 LB9, '92 Z28 & '02 SLP SS M6. Excellent content. My question is what is your best solution to eliminate the white fuzzy mold that develops on the steering wheel and interiors? I'm using Damp-Rid buckets to experiment for results after light 50/50 vinegar with soapy water mixture. Loved and owned these vintage GM relics since '87. Working on removing the LB9 for a possible carbed LS or junkyard 6.0L + 4L85E variety swap.

Awesome, that sounds like a great collection you have. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the content👍. I'm guessing you live in a more humid climate like me, so the fuzzy mold comes with the territory. I like to go in and wipe down my stored cars about once a month with a mild cleaning product and a microfiber towel to keep the mold at bay. It works pretty well, but I'm waiting for the day I find something that can eliminate it completely. Have a Merry 🎄

I just received my step dad’s 1985 C4. I’ve been pining after it since I was a little girl. I finally got the final nerve to ask again. He’s 93 now and the cars been sitting for 15-20 years now. My mom didn’t respect the car and sat a bunch of crap on it and let her cats shit and piss all over it for years. It would break my heart to see it every time. But it’s mine now!! My fiancé is going to help me bring it back to life and I’m stoked for the journey. I just hope I get to take my dad for a spin in it before he passes away ❤

Lucky for me the cars windows were fogged completely so the interior is still beautiful (needs a little work) and sitting on cinder blocks so it wasn’t sitting on its rims. It’s a project car for sure! But the project I’ve been trying to start for years!
