Hi Mark, and Merry Christmas. I bought (privately) a 1993 Corvette convertible and the seller did not recall ever having PKE fobs. So what I found was, when you manually lock the car, this arms the alarm. So when you come back and open the door with the key the alarm goes off ( horns). To disarm the alarm you have to turn the door key to turn it off. I can get by doing this but would be better to have the keyless feature. I saw some generic ones on E bay but not sure if they will work ? Thanks for your very informative video.

I was going to suggest a 3D printed fob cover if they were not made by anyone, but it appears they do. May still be a good idea if they start to get expensive or are still delicate. I'd hope the remakes have a better plastic formula to withstand abuse. I wonder how hard the guts of the FOB would be to make, even if not as nice as the original. Probably need a bunch of info on how it works that we simply don't have for security reasons. With the age of the system has there ever been any issues with people "faking" the signals and breaking into cars?

Third owner of a 95 convertible with less than 60k mikes. No fobs! So I wan sure it even had a remote capability. So where can I get a fib or two if the test proves my PKE s functioning??

The reason the clips break is you have to push inward to release the two haves not outward.

Look at the vette forums you will see where to get the genuine OEM revision with two screws in back 88960923 and 88960924 as a fresh build by the designer and internally signed. 😉

Size 2450. Sometimes a 2450N will fit a little better because the top side of the battery isn’t as thick. You have to be careful how you put the battery in, angling one side in before the other in the original clip style versions will be easier angled in one way over the other. Just don’t force it too much. The later style with the screwed case the battery installation is more forgiving.

I have a 95 Corvette, I have a question about my door chime. It normally doesn't work. Some time when I put the key in the ignition the chime will start working. Any help will be appropriated. PS. Amazon carries the key fob case for $19. They have no internal parts.

@@MirrockCorvette I have a fob left over from my 94, the oe battery (sanyo cr2450) is 4.82 mm (.190) thick with the rim having .27 (.010) a step down to fit under the clasp s in the fob. New 2450 don't have this lip so won't fit, yea I know I don't need or use it but I like everything to be in working order.

​@MirrockCorvette yes, also I will add a suggestion, use a Swiss made Renata CR2450. The screw back OEM fob has a precision Swiss made battery holder and the Renata CR2450 batteries fit like a fine custom made glove. 😊

I get no light when I turn the key. I press the trip button twice then the fuel button once and a get a quick light, It flashes once. 1993 , any ideas?

The last key fob used turned off the passive system. You need that key fob back to turn passive off. I had same problem so when I got new fob had to replace PKE module.

i found removing the pke fuse from the passenger side fuse box does it. just no longer use the fob.

Potentially, a way to check is to see if the regular fobs have FCC I.Ds that match up with the keyless entry module in the corvette because they all aren’t cross compatible.

Also, why would the old style convertable key fob and the lid, I was given, be upside down when aligning the top and the bottom pieces. The clicker raised plastic dot hits the battery, not the door yellow dot on the inside?

If I want to get a new case for my screwed on type case, do I just pry the internal out? If seems like it’s glued or secured and I don’t want to destroy it. Thank you!

Don't pry it out unless experienced with its removal, see vette forums. If you pry the form incorrectly it can pop the coil form and the windings will unravel.

Sometimes you will find various writings on the cars interior that was done during assembly. Not all cars but some have random writings,, have seen some where assembly line workers wrote notes in the car to get other workers attention who were further down the line
