Great video. I love the screwdriver trick. Had some close calls with my 92. I'll never prop open my hood without using that trick again.

Just did the upgrade from scissor lift to lift a assist on my 86 and the top bracket knob must face the wheel well or the lift rod will hit my alternator bracket on the way down.... Fits perfect in that orientation

Very good and detailed video. I am in the process of changing out my 87 telescopic hood support to the 88+ style, and I was finding conflicting information online on whether or not it was possible. This video answered my questions. Subscribed good sir.

Really informative info. As a matter of fact, I am going to replace my hood strut on my 92 vette tomorrow, so this video was spot on with the timing. Thanks.

I learned the screw driver trick real quick on my 90 c4.

had the hood fall on me once. im a tad underweight so it took for a bit of the ride, but it did not hurt me or any components, just taught me to be careful not to bump the strut. I should have thought of the screwdriver trick, nice idea

The underside of the 84 corvette hood is completely different . Then the 85 and up corvettes. 84 is it's own hood do to the crossfire fuel system.

I recently replaced the 2 little pistols on my 87. The old shocks where worn out but the new ones only mildly made it easier to open the hood. Still like picking up a baby elephant! Lol

The hood conversion was a top notch instructional lesson, I am 79 years old and experiencing difficulty raising the hood. Your lesson wood satisfy my need. How often do the conversion pieced come available? What is the cost? I have a 1985.

So, my 95's hood strut has no gas assistance like others I've seen. Are they all supposed to be gas assisted?

Since I have an 84 is the only option the not so sturdy scissor support then? Or is there a better option I’m not seeing

I have a 93 and the holes are also drilled in on the passengers side for larger hood prop. Not sure about how the brackets will line up. Haven't gotten chance to do more research yet or test fit parts

I have an 86 z51 with the early 84-86 hood prop but the later 86 aluminum heads. Was there a slim period of time where the early hood prop and late aluminum heads were both integrated or do I just have an oddball? As far as I know everything is original

Where is this Corvette salvage yard located? I'd like to see what I can find for my 1987 C4 Corvette I recently changed out all the hood struts on my C4 I really only needed to change out the two front smaller ones...

Hi, I just watched your video on the Corvette hood props, dDo you have the upgrade for an 86? If so how much are they?

My "88 has only only one lift on the two hinges and it's on the right hinge. I don't think you mentioned in your video that after the '87 model year, only one hinge lift was used. Am I correct about this. Apparently, from your video, the later cars did away with both hinge lifts.

I have a 93. If I replaced the gas loaded support would it “automatically” lift my hood when I pull the lever? In other words is there enough compressed gas in the strut to open all by itself with no assist?
@MirrockCorvette3 жыл бұрын
No. They were never meant to lift the hood by themselves only to offer assistance when lifting
@ScreamingEagleFTW3 жыл бұрын
can i put those two small lift struts on a 96? If so what year do I want?

i bought some c4 hood hinges as mine did not have any. it bolted on fine, but does have the piston mount points, so yes you probably could if you replaced the hinge with an older one

Those scissor hood supports are garbage broke one today while trying to close the hood from the drivers side I barely even pushed the hood down and that thing bent in half and fold sideways like a C! And I got my ass yelled at by my older brother 😂😂😂😂

Of course not an option to convert on my 84, lol. I truly do enjoy the car but it honestly is the red-headed step child of the bunch.
