People don't actually hate the newer Minecraft, they just miss the older MC, Minecraft would be dead if new stuff haven't came, combat update is not that bad. edit 12/23/23: hello, i dont like doing this, as I think it's kinda weird. But here's a followup, I would see this comment come back every once in a while within the last several years because of a reply. It's a good touching stone to go back on to a simpler time. My opinion has changed over time, I play Minecraft still but not as often at all anymore, it's typically in those two weeks periods where my friends and I are addicted to Minecraft just for our new world to fall silent again. I was about 13 when I originally made this comment, now I'm 20 years old while in college. Time flies by fast, and eventually you're going to have to deal with the reality of adulthood. I hope everyone is doing good in the game of life, and if not, I hope you have the strength to push on.

yah i say microsoft and mojang are doing a good job, but there too much emphissis on exploring instead of accually mining and crafting with the nether update, bastidons give too OP mid game loot and make people more interested in the sub-world than main, over-world

*This is gonna be long, but I think I know what many people are missing what others just call "nostalgia"* I really miss old minecraft terrain generation from (old) beta and alpha with trees on every mountain (now they are just BALD), the weird but beautiful lake-seas with curly wicked shoreline that were just unique to beta and alpha and since then the bodies of water no longer generate like that. Next thing I don't know how to describe corectly it but in the old beta blocks had more contrast shading (not the lack of smooth lighting or brightness settings but the shadows were just more sharp and more pronounced, they aren't the same in newer versions even at moody) Old textures also were much more unique and were standing out more... newer are much more smooth and less contrasty (but not all of them, some are still really nice) - many people like them more for building which is true... I can't really provide solid solution to that especially having option to use texturepacks and even stuff like optifine with interconnected textures... but what I can say is thet the mojang could release second default texture pack with all the og beta textures, with maybe some critical new ones altered slightly to fit old style and both texture packs should have interconnected textures with ability to toggle them on and off without optifine. (ik there is fan made texturepack for all og textures, but I feel it should be in every version as default) Since we all in topic of textures, I want to quickly mention that I liked when they all faced the same way without rotating (mostly thinking of grass tiles, netherrack and few others), but I think there is already option to turn it off in default or optifine... in this case this might be mostly just my pure personal preference. I think that because of enchants and sprint the mobs should be actually more dynamic, more aggresive and smart as well and be able to sprint (for a limited time like a player without food to eat constantly) at player to balance it. (do you remember the creepers camping at your dor in old versions) I also just don't like new combat with cooldown in general, as well as villagers and pillagers, they are kinda annoying and ugly and despite their trading mechanics I feel like they are a bit forced into the game. *those next two/three things are just my opinion how they could be changed to fit into the minecraft style we miss* The new nether is 10x better than old buuut the blue hue of the fog in blue forest and soul sand valley should be actually more like in basalt deltas, blue makes it look a bit lets say... less dramatic... The fog in red forest is too red and oversaturated... The endermans should be more creepy, have white or blood red eyes, black smoke particles rather than purple and originate from nether bc of next point bellow (ik but I really like the aspect of actually being afraid in game it makes it fun and more challenging) I wish instead End we had Aether :( *And honestly for last* I just HATE the dark oak forest biome ITS SO FUCKING UGLY AND EVERYWHERE >:( *PLS Like and Comment if you agree and with what...* *I really want to know if Im the only one, or if found what you are missing*

Terraria is still great. The devs on the other hand... Minecrafts devs were great... The game was great too... although it had a lot of potential. Starbound had a great story It's mutliplayer was kinda eh The devs are amazing. The difference between starbound and terraria is the mechanics and mindset. The difference between minecraft and those is that the developers didn't quit and they weren't bought out. They also focused on expanding the game, not building on things that the game isn't intended on doing.

The nostalgia is so real... I remember when I first started playing Minecraft, right after that big Halloween update with the Nether and whatnot. I was completely captured by the beauty of the game, and the serenity. And now, almost exactly 5 years later, I find myself playing until 3 or 4 in the morning every night on me and my older brothers' LAN server. Yes, Minecraft has changed in many ways, no one can deny that, but it is still Minecraft and it always will be. Minecraft is still a good game, after all this time. The community out there is the opposite now, and that really is a shame. Minecraft before: Building Houses over days... Mining over hours Nether was really Dangerous and we often died. Public Server without Protection (everybody was friendly and nobody was griefing) Never got boring after hours or days playing the same Map. The only Minigame was Spleef. Now: Community only little Kids Nobody Plays Survival/ Most of the kids even don't know that it is a Survival Game and that you can craft.... Everybody is playing Bedwars/Skywars/other Minigames After hours playing Survival with other people they leave because of some Minigame ... :( sry for bad english

I know you all have Nostalgia for the old days of Minecraft, and if you want, you can even play an old version with friends! Ah I remember when I started playing Minecraft, my friends and I started to play the classic version in 2009 on the website... we just found that game randomly in the night because we were bored and wanted to play a game and then we found it. The game was so fun when we started it and we continued playing it (survival test mode, first alpha versions and the first minecraft servers for multiplayer) until like 2012 where we all did other things. Minecraft was really something special, the mindset of the people back then was different on servers and so on. We were really happy when we finished our castle made out of cobblestone on our first server and build some farming houses and fields... damn those memories. Nowdays if you join a server you always see those copied and pasted "lobbys" which are so damn huge and perfectly created, you need to pay money to get a premium account on almost every server, everything is just PvP Modes with crying kids that write in some MLG shit language all the time and the build part? Pff... who cares about that anymore? There are just these weird property maps where everyone gets his 10x10 square where he puts his chests and a p*nis made out of diamond blocks... Minecraft had a different feeling back then in the early days (I mostly liked the days in classic mode servers and alpha / beta servers) but nowdays I don't like the game anymore. I wouldn't say the game is bad, I more likely think it became better for people that like PvP and things like this but for me the game changed too much in a way that I don't like and most people that think the same as me left the game too and now the people that like these changes are left (which is the bigger part since the game gets more and more players each day, Mojang focuses on the mass with each update). This is just my opinion, as I said, I think the game is still great for most people (who like the changes) but for me it became too much of an PvP-Roleplay game with all it's new realistic sounds, realistic combat or realistic world generation... I liked the old stuff in Minecraft, the simple things that made Minecraft to Minecraft are not here anymore.

We all remember, and I guess we always will. I remember when I started my first world and I felt so awesome when I built a house of sand with a bed in it. When I started multiplayer I met loads of friends, there will never be a time like that again, now there are only 6-10 year olds, you never make friends in minecraft anymore. But the worst thing to me is that no update feels like it felt 2-4 years ago. It really felt like mojang put everything into minecraft. Now the updates feel empty and not good at all any more. Thats all I got to say really.

Minecraft,you will stay forever in my heart. I remember when minecraft came out, we were playing single player and there were no minigames. I did not know what to do and it was fun to wander around, punching woods. After days, i learned how to play the game and i was proud. i was building houses in survival and they looked nice. i was mining for days and i died a lot. Now, nearly only kids who dont understand the game plays it. they dont play the real gamemode, what minecraft was and was meant to be back when it came out. Now its different, all those updates changed the game. On console, its just about minigames and maps... I miss the real Minecraft
