The legacy node editor was not developed by Redshift, it was C4D's native node editor for working with Xpresso

Thanks Roland, I was confused why some of my materials are in old graph editor and some in node one. :) Which one do you use? I'm sticking to legacy for now as there are some things that bugs me with Node Editor

You are welcome! I’m still using Shadergraph. I have thousands of assets which r using Shadergraph, so I don’t see any reason to use Node editor yet.

Great video. I have a question, I buy some huge pack of C4D Redshift materials 2 years ago, the old kind with Xpresso (Shader graph). Do you know how to convert them into the new ones (Node Editor) ? I have old and new in all my scenes, It's a mess. And second question, when I use the Redshift material converter into C4D, it still create me the old Xpresso ones, not the new. I still on C3D 2023.1 so maybe it has change... Thank you so much
@LFOdesign-Tutorials Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Happy to hear that you like it. Yes, you can convert shadergraph materials into the node editor in materials / tools section.

But as far as I can see, there’s no way to use the LFO tools directly in the Node editor, right? So I bought the complete tool set (and the Uktimate Course), but the LFO tools are only useable if I stay with the old shader graph.
@LFOdesign-Tutorials Жыл бұрын
That’s correct. LFO tools are using Xgroups/Xpresso. Node editor is not supporting Xgroups yet. Ones Maxon will implement Xgroup (or it’s convert) into the Node editor, it will work automatically there as well. But there is no downside to use shadergraph, especially if these tools help to achieve good results. Or if is node editor so important for your workflow, you can reference these tools into the node editor as is explained in tips and tricks tutorial.

no is not working is always open the node editor not the shader graph. I uncheck the option of the node editor but still no shader graph

Can I use C4D shaders when working with the node editor somehow?
@LFOdesign-Tutorials7 ай бұрын
Yes. Reference C4D node/shader (connected directly into the surface output) from Shadergraph into the node editor. Use reference node in node editor. Edit C4D shader parameters in Shadergraph.

@@LFOdesign-Tutorials gotta ask one (maybe stupid) thing though. I'm pretty new to C4D, so sorry if it's something obvious. How do I then even get to create or edit any material in the shadergraph if I have set up my materials to use the node editor instead? Thanks
@LFOdesign-Tutorials7 ай бұрын
@@MrJemabaris in the latest version of C4D 2024 there is not supported conversion from node editor to shadergraph. Just other way round. So ones you have created material in node editor you have to edit nodes in node editor only.
@MrJemabaris7 ай бұрын
@@LFOdesign-Tutorials thanks for the answer, I wanna go the other way around. I wanna use the redshift node that can bake C4D texture nodes (which only exists in the shader graph but not in the node editor) inside the node editor as that's what I have set up as standard. I'm on C4D 2023 btw. So is there a way to do that? As I understand I can use the reference node to bring stuff over from the shader graph to the node editor but I can't find a way to set sth up in the shader graph in the first place.

New to Redshift, I know how to apply C4D Shader in RS Shader Graph, how do I do the same with Shader Node? because you said they are same.
@LFOdesign-Tutorials Жыл бұрын
Maxon decide that in new node editor will be not available C4D Shader. But if you still need it from some reason, you have to go to the shadergraph, create c4d shader - plug it into the surface output. Then you can open node editor and use reference node. And into the reference node you have to assign shadergraph material with c4d shader. But redshift already contains all usable parts of C4D shader, so there is actually no reason for using C4D shader anymore.

@@LFOdesign-Tutorials I frequently use spline text/drawing in c4d material as texture in simple steps, been using this forever. you mean it can be done in Shader Node too, but under difference command names? I'm scratching my head lol trying to figure it out, wish it was more user friendly like it use to be. anyway thanks bro

I see you hve only checked the gpu and not cpu on system copute devices. any reason for that?
@LFOdesign-Tutorials Жыл бұрын
CPU is significantly slower than GPU for redshift rendering. So if you have solid GPU , redshift rendering will be more efficient on GPU only.
