amazing how this video came out five years ago and the technique still blows 90% of the audio reactive stuff I see nowadays out of the water. thank you

Yeah..the sub-polygon displacement has better texture quality but the displacer just looks/feels better with the sound effector i think. Im so glad thepixellab2011 made this video i was dead in my tracks with the expresso and sound effector.

drag & drop the material into xpresso and publish the displacer input that you need to use (height, strength or whatever)

Old tutorial, but helpful. Funny thing. Could not do it in R20. Unless I add the Sound Effector to xpresso in R19, and then open it in R20 and continue from there.

Have you figured out how to do this without using R19? Im stuck because it's not working in R20 :(
@E_Dtl5 жыл бұрын
@@PrabinPebams I have no idea, other than importing the xpresso from R19, guess its a bug in R20

@@PrabinPebams You can grab the xpresso from here if you dont have R19: 1drv.ms/u/s!As9W-AbsrtQughRZi7sKJXSGrLUN

thanks for the tutorial! I can't me the xpresso work though. Did everything like you said but once I pull the displacer into the xpresso and connect it, the displacement strength goes down to 0 and doesn't go up if I hit play.

I was just having the same problem but found out you have to add a falloff in the sound effector. The newer versions of C4D no longer default to infinite falloff

Hi there! Did you ever figure this out? I'm doing the same thing as you I believe, but haven't figured it out. I'm using displacement in a material and want the sound to drive the strength of the material's displacement.

Hi. I was trying to do this with Cinema 4D R19. Can you please tell me why I can't find the "object" in the dropdown list of sound when I click to the right red output node of Sound? Mine shows only Left, Left Mag, Length, Right, Right Mag and samples.
@patjehuitinga66136 жыл бұрын
You need to use the sound effector from the object tab. you used the "sound" in the expresso it self.

I was about to ask the same thing 4 years after you, but considering you never got an answer I'm assuming I won't either. Unless perhaps in the past 4 years you figured it out and would be so kind as to share your results with me? :)

Same thing for me! This video goes through the same steps with the same problem. Nothing happens. Nikolaus, came up with a workaround he told 1skyline (using Weight instead of strength, and the Weight Transform for the Audio Parameter set to 100%), but that didn't work either. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jofKgnWNnamAfqs
