If your particles do not touch the surface of the model or object, then you just need to change the radius in the emitter itself ... I spent half an hour looking for how to solve the problem

Not only is this tutorial in english, it's in fancy english! For octane: add object tag, hair tag (check render as hair) and octane material to xptrail. Working pretty well.

Nice tutorial. A small hint for standard rendering ... you can use the xpSplineMesher from x-particles since version 3.5 instead of the c4d sweep nurb to create a mesh out of the trails.
@DanielDanielsson6 жыл бұрын
Das true. Probably a lot quicker to work with than what I showed...
@esbenrahbek35496 жыл бұрын
For other noobs like me, it goes like this: 1. Create the xpSplineMesher 2. Highlight it (ie. click on it) 3. Drop your xpTrail object into "objects" in xpSplineMesher 4. Apply a material to xpSplineMesher 5. Wait for the render...
@rapgab5 жыл бұрын
I know we are one year later, but you can also throw the x-particle-material on the xpTrail. So this is even faster.

Here a setup I have been struggling with. I tried a few different ways, see below: 1) I have particles moving over a mesh, constraint with follow surface and leaving spline trails 2) Eventually I want to animate the mesh underneath, a talking and moving character, but I want to stick the trails to the mesh while the trails are being created an while the character is moving around. - Problem is it needs to be procedural not happen after the splines are all created.

thank you for this tutorial. I did it twice and have a few questions, hope for your reply 1. On the viewport the growing is ok, but when I render it (octane or standard render ), it completely different. not only the acting of growing, but also the amount of it. Amount of particles after render are completely less then on viewport. No matter how beautiful it looks on viewport, after render it's just a few little random branches 2. Looking on your final result, frost is quite flat. No matter how close I put emitter to the object my frost not only following surface but growing in different directions as well. As a result it looks like tinsel or plant, but not like frost Cant find any solutions, please help =(

Your voice is your branding, in case you didn't know, like when someone asks you to draw the Pizza Hut logo and you know it's red even if you are not sure about the letters and stuff, you know it's red. That's theirs, yours is your voice. ... Aaand I didn't even watch the vid yet, let me get back to it :) (And I wasn't even looking for this stuff, I'm actually in desperate need of a proper plant tutorial, which is what I was looking for when I found this, but I thought it was nice and might be interesting. Base on the path of Growing Frost
@DanielDanielsson6 жыл бұрын
I believe I did it by rendering a high-res, black & white, top-down video of the frost growing. I modified that in AE, projected it back on the scene, rendered it again through the animated camera and used that as a matte for a separate render of pure ice. Bit of a workaround, but it do.

Hey. Where did you get your material from ? the one you use on the sphere at the beginning? Thank you! Absolutely love your tutorials and your voice!
