I was all set after watching your video to finally do the fuel filter on my '99 C5 - I've had the filter on the shelf for two or three years. Crawled under my car and . . . it was then I realized that the RPM transmission I put in when my original blew up a couple of years ago is much, much bigger and leaves no room to get my hands up there. To do it, I'm going to have to drop the exhaust so I am saving that for another day. Ah, well, at least I managed to get my summer wheelset off and the all-season on today.

Since my C5 is a later model I'll probably need the filter you were talking about and also the fuel sending unit might have to be changed and I'm not looking forward to it your should be a lot easier if you need to work on it.

You’re not able to press in the shrader valve on the early c5’s?
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
Yes you are.
@bluedevilsdrummer4 жыл бұрын
My Corvette Life you just figured taking it would be faster? I’ve found that there’s hardly any fuel ever even when pressurized. Makes it nice to not have to clean up so much
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
I honestly didn’t know. I pressed it and nothing happened.

Looked up u-tube video on 2004 Vette . It appears I have a fuel filter on frame with two inlets on one side of filter. About $70 to $80.🤔

Chris, I cannot locate my fuel filter. The car is an 03 coupe w/ auto trans. I’ve replaced the fuel filter on an 02 w/manual transmission and had zero problems locating it. Do you have any suggestions?
@mycorvettelife Жыл бұрын
Inside the tank. Its part of the sending unit.
@ronsteitz45354 жыл бұрын
Wonder if my 2004 would be same as yours Chris. Wasn’t sure of your year of Vette. I don’t believe my gas tanks are easy to get to as yours appear to be.🤔
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
04 I believe is different. You’ll have to check but I think the filter is in the tank. Only year they did that.
@josephjoseph40404 жыл бұрын
Nice video Chris , are all filters located in the same place even for 04 ?? I’m smelling some gas on the driver side . Some say it located inside the tank
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
The pump is located in the tank. I believe the filter is still in the same location. The pump location changed mid-2003. You will need to drop the entire tank to get to it, instead of it being accessible from the side like the 97-02.
@josephjoseph40404 жыл бұрын
Yes i think its the filter coz I’m smelling gas behind the driver when I fill up .
@sspp30653 жыл бұрын
So I just wanted to let you and your viewers know that the 2004 and late 2003 does not have a fuel filter. Apparently it is in the fuel tank and should not have to be changed. I discovered this on the corvette forums after searching everywhere on my the car.

I have discovered that my 2003 Z06 is a late model that has a c6 fuel system and the filter is in the tank with the fuel pump,, so this video doesn't apply to my 03 Z06,,, so I'm going to have to let mine run until it won't run anymore,,,😢

If you get hit so hard it almost takes off your rear end, does the fuel filter need to be checked???

GM doesn’t provide a mileage interval. I would say every 50,000.

No need to start the engine to check for leaks...just cycle the pump with the ignition key. Electric pump...not engine driven and no need to "rev".

Also yours must be a manual trans cause I don’t have nearly as much room as you do to reach up there. On auto cars you’ll need to remove the driver side muffler section.
