from all the people changing out the factory air intake system, one would think that although GM could design and build the fantastic LS line of engines, they were clueless when it came to designing an air intake for that same engine. I think those people are wildly mistaken , modern car are very tightly engineered for efficiency, and efficiency is power, not just fuel economy . All the systems are interdependent, you start changing one, it affects the efficiency of the other interdependent systems , and what the computer expects from them . one can pretend it is the old hot rod days, where pretty much any aftermarket part was an improvement over the crude old Detroit stuff, but I need a problem and a solution before I start changing original systems, no matter what promises are made on the box or over the internet.,

Yes. You are absolutely correct. Changing just one component and leaving it as is is a waste of time. But when you change 2 ot 3 or 5 components like headers, intake, cam and heads, you gain serious numbers. But if you just did one if those, the gains would be marginal. Except for headers though, headers are just better.

Nice. I have a 2K auto coupe. Have not dynoed it yet but it pulls real good with a tune, LS6 intake, flip tie cold air mod and the biggest improvement, 3.42 diff from a manual. Curious to see what it does.

There is a huge flaw with this Dyno test concerning a C5. In the real world the hood is closed and that Haltech is sucking in hot air from the engine bay. Breathless, Callaway and Vararam are breathing ambient air. Shut the hood for a few min while the motor is still hot. Less o2 less power. That and the ecu is.going to pull timing.

Actually, when the car is rolling normally, the movement displaces the hot air. But on a dyno, it isn't moving. Opening the hood helps simulate what the engine bay temps would be if the vehicle was moving.

Enjoyed the video but couldn’t see the stats.

So the c5 had A baseline of 311whp and it was an auto?
@ApeMotorsports Жыл бұрын
Yes. Stock 97'.

@@ApeMotorsports wow I've always heard of stock autos dynoing around 280-299whp and the manuals would Dyno more like in the 300+

This one was definitely strong. The early autos are usually just under 300 stock.
