C6 Corvette - How to Lower on Stock Bolts

This is a quick and easy way to lower your C6 or C5 Corvette without buying any expensive parts. This is a simple process and only takes about 10 minutes per wheel. In this video, I detail how to lower the front of your Corvette. The rear is the same principal, but is a bit easier. This is the method people are referring to when they say "lower your corvette on stock bolts". Ill give you an up close view of the stock bolts and explain how they differ from lowering bolts.

Thanks you very much. I just got a C6. It had the stock bolts replaced with after market lowering bolts.Chevy doesnt make the bolts anymore. They want you to buy the whole leaf spring. I want the car raised. Any ideas? And thanks again.

If you’ve got them all the way down, which raises the car, I’m not sure, outside of finding a good used set. …..or going to adjustable coil overs.

@kdsgarage8475 I ended up buying a reproduction set. Made to factory specs. And had them installed and the cars ride height is back to factory specs. What a great difference it made. Thanks again.

What did you mean at 3:15 when you saw the spring release? I just tried on my c6 but maybe I didnt jack up the leaf enough to relieve the pressure on the bolt because I wasn’t able to turn it even with a wrench. I’m just scared of stripping it so im gonna leave some wd40 on it and get back to it when i have time again

You’ll notice when the bottom or rubber portion of the lowering bolt is no longer making contact with the A-Arm. Thus releasing all the pressure from the bolt making it easier to turn.

What size wrench should we use if the bolt doesn't move with our fingers?

I'm not sure. I think its either an 8 or 10mm.

If the bolt is lowered a half inch does that mean the car will be lowered the same amount? Also did 3 turns of the bolt equal a quarter inch difference? Thank You

Lowering the bolt will push the a-arm closer to the ground, raising the car. You need to turn itcounter clockwise to lower. The number of turns might be different for everyone. Depending on your setup and age of the spring, but that’s a good rule of thumb to go by to start. Also, once you lower the car, you need to drive some. It’ll drop some more as it settles and you may need to adjust.
