Ghosts and Goblins is particularly nostalgic for me from the arcade and cool to see you gaming up this nice port on the C64 - absolutely agree that it's legendary. Love this judo game - it's really impressive to see a game of this level on the C64, seems ahead of it's time. Always enjoy your floppy deep dives!

Best game conclusion ever to the Jail Break review... "At least this game works" LOL!! Enjoyed the video loads, I had the Adventure Pak back in the day as I enjoyed text based games. Nice to see you mention one of the titles.

The animation on Uchi-Mata is incredible. I'm always impressed when developers did so much with so little. Not much impresses these days. When you have the massive computing power of today's tech, doing incredible things is easy. Back then, not so much.

Played Ghosts n Goblins on the C64. I remember it being notoriously difficult, just like the arcade version. Among the best arcade ports. Others that come to mind are Rush n Attack and Satan's Hollow.

I remember 2 of them but not Uchi-Mata, Jail break or Trillistron. I used to play a lot of text adventures and I think I have a floppy with that on it. If I didn't get far I usually moved on. haha. Nice video and great to see another WOTF!

Other than Ghosts and Goblins, I hadn't played any of the others. And my family had a PC computer shop in 91 so I had a ton of people who would just drop of boxes of games to play from their old systems after they upgraded to PCs I would load up on my C128. I still have a C64 and Amiga A500 that have been sitting in storage for many years now (not exactly dry storage) that I'm a bit nervous to try and get running again.

it was always fun to get some c64 games collection from friends and then to find out what games were on the floppy discs. There were just so many. Nowadays I feel a bit guilty about all the software companies we 'destroyed' with our copies.

Ha!!!! I did the same darn thing downloading the games via modem overnight and then play them the next day. Some of the games it was the first and LAST time I ever played them!!! Lots of garbage. One afternoon a detective from the local PD called our phone number!!!! YIKES!!!! Turns out I mistyped one of the phone numbers in my autodialer!!! It was ringing an elderly grandmother, over n over n over again! 😯 Evidently it had been going on for several weeks (but not constantly) and they had to enlist the aid of the phone company. Fortunately it was a cordial but stern conversation and nothing ever became of it. Like you this was back in the mid 80's and very few people had ever heard the tones coming from a modem, especially the grandma and the detective wasnt aware of it either.

@@FloppyDeepDive I forget how I heard about it, but in the late 80s, some posted a phone number that supposedly a road sign somewhere. It had no security and would just drop you at a prompt where you could theoretically change whatever you wanted. I called it once just to look at it, but wasn't brave enough to try changing anything. Not that I knew what I was doing. :)

My colleague got his C64 in 1987 and he got a software pack on cassette. It was called Power Pack. 10 games were on two cassettes including Uchi Mata and Fist II. Uchi Mata was too boring for us. We prefered playing Fist II. In 1988 i got my C64. I bought Trilistron on cassette for 5 DM (2.85 $). I played it a lot of times. It made fun. The original was only available on cassette. It was programmed by CRL and released by QuelleSoft in 1985. Quelle was a very famous German mail order company with its own stores. You can compare it with your former Sears. Later i got my floppy drive and i also bought my discs via Quelle by their own technique brand called "Privileg". A pack of 10 discs cost 10 DM (6 $). They were inexpensive and had a good quality. In 1991 i copied some demos for a friend on these Privileg discs. In 2015 he gave it back to me and they were still readable. He stored it all the yeas on the attic.

Trilistron says roughly at game over... All four fuel tanks are empty now, so the fight has to be abandoned. The shilding(power) of planet trilistron is unconquerable.... I must say the german is very janky in there. very "snobby" for a game. Noone would write the text today that way, even if you write it in german. Sounds a little weird i mean you can understand it but still odd... btw i had a c64 in the 80s as a 10 yo kid but never came along Trilistron. There is sooo much stuff for the breadbin. Also "Zwischenraumtaste" at the start is very odd. In germany we use the word "Leertaste" (lit. Empty Key) for it. Even in the 80s. Maybe it a swiss or austrian game and they name it different.... ahh one last thing to add.. quelle-soft was the software division of a big german mail order company (quelle) in the 80s. they only published cheap bargain games mostly on tape from private programmers. I think those games would run under the indie label today.
