This games music is probably the reason I'm still playing games today.

Midnight Resistance had an awesome soundtrack, but the first stage theme of this game has to be one of the finest 8 bit anthems ever.

Excellent game. Those wondering why their version may have been cut short (ends around the 12 minute mark in this video) there was a demo version included in the Night Moves pack bundled with some later C64's. This is the full game play through here though, which was widely available. Midnight Resistance was probably more recognizable in the Arcades and on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in the early 1990s.

I can only explain that with nostalgia. Not even the arcade track comes close to the Amiga version. For me, that is. For C64, its pretty damn amazing, though.

This is a game that I appreciate even more nowadays. It was quite ahead of its time with a very strong Contra feel to it. The ending was a bit dark though if you didn't collect all the keys and you had to choose between your family members. I had the shorter version of this game so it's nice to see the other levels.

An absolutely brilliant coin op conversion that gives the mighty Bubble Bobble & Rainbow Islands a run for their money in the accurate conversion stakes. Showed exactly what the C64 could do when talented programmers were let loose on it.

I'm going to go against the grain slightly! 😀 This was a good conversion of a legendary arcade game - the music especially is awesome. However, the control scheme is somewhat lousy, since it's difficult to rotate and aim your gun with any accuracy due to the C64's lack of a "rotation wheel' like what the arcade had. Many games had this problem - others which come to mind are Forgotten Worlds and Ikari Warriors. Some of the large boss sprites would glitch and flicker too, and this always ruined the immersion for me. It didn't help that extra bonuses like Homing Missiles and Shower were drastically underpowered as well. Still a fun game, but it always felt more like a tech demo to me.

The end boss is disappointing compared to the ZX Spectrum version - too small, lack of colour and far too easy. Otherwise this is better as a port.
