I played this when I was a kid. About 10-15 times, and I solved the case. I was about 8 years old. VERY intense and scary atmosphere for a kid.

The code of the safe is not a game protection. As the Professor will tell you if you question him, Mr McFungus had a terrible memory for numbers. It will have to be a number that had significance to him, something he would be able to remember. Try the kitchen. Search thoroughly. Examine the items you pick up.

There's an article in newest Retro Gamer magazine about this game. Fun facts: - Sam Manthrope was just 18 years old when he made this game - He got £2000 for it and made this game in his bedroom - Bouncy boobs of the Cook were his idea - Just 4 of 10 Evidences having that E sign is a bug, they were all supposed to have it - Next year, there's gonna be a book released based on this game by a Swedish author
@bonavinter2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I don't remember there being an "E" bug like that, I thought there were 10 E pieces? At any rate I'll check this book out, do you know the author's name? I'm Swedish as well, but I imagine the book will be in English?

6:58 is wrong. There IS a hint in the game if my memory does not fail me. In the kicthen there is a silver tray ( 30:15 in the video is the tray but player does not take it or examine it), and it has Angus McFungus birthday engraved, which is the code to the safe.

You are absolutely correct! The tray says that he was born March 21st, 1919.

yep. I remember I was so proud that I cracked that myself. I mean it was fairly simple I guess but at the time it seemed hard. And the game as a whole was definitely not easy. I never managed. Took me until the internet arrived to find out it was the cunt Dingle who did it. Great game, true nostalgia for me.

I remember getting a hint about the secret passage in the kitchen but I was told it was to the far left... I tried every inch of that wall and was never able to find it. If I'd only gone a little to the right! Amazing game, though a little short. The sprites are well defined so everyone is nice and distinct, and the environments, while a little colourless, are full of atmosphere. Great little game.
@bonavinter2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, for an 18-year old to have made this game by himself in his bedroom, it's surprisingly well made. Very professional considering it's an 80s game, and one of the best games on the c64. Deserves more praise as one of the best titles from that era tbh.

Oh the memories. Me and some friends played this a lot on our C64s and tried to figure it out. Hell, we were so confused at the "He/She is waiting.." text. Then after a few weeks I figured it out by pure luck that you could walk up to them and ask questions. This was a great adventure game for it's time, but I could never finish it as it crashed when the bomb exploded (bad crack I guess, and could not find the original at the local store). Now I can re-live the memories and see how it ends. :D

This game was (and still is) one of my favorite games on the C64 along with Fort Apocalypse wich I did completed after months of playing...Back in those days you waited like hours for the tape-recorder to finish loading, but now with emulation it is a lot faster. I never actaully completed this game...I got stuck every time that doctor character died, but I still loved it. So I'm not going to watch the end of this video, because I still (after all these years) want to finish this puzzle myself...
