I figured out why my burble tune's drivability was less than ideal. In this deep dive, I'll show you how to create a really drivable burble tune, and I'll show you how to make it more or less aggressive to suit your preference.
I’m using an interface and software from HP Tuners.

Next upload will be an installation of the DSC Sport Mag Ride Controller and there will be a ride along in that video with plenty of pops and bangs :) also will be doing some dragon rips this season and I’ll make sure to get cabin audio in there because it sounds insane on the dragon!

I tried your settings in a 2017 ZL1 I can get it to not go into DFCO but it won't pull timing to the neg numbers. If it goes into DFCO I can see it go neg but there no pops because theres no fuel to pop!

The pops happen during the transition to DFCO. It probably isn’t pulling enough timing prior to DFCO entry

Mine is a stock no tune 2019 with xpipe and it does pop pretty good.. Maybe they changed the stock tune a little bit for the 2019..

They did. I have a burble and non-burble tune loaded onto my NGauge. The non-burble is the factory 2019 minimum tables and it does pop and gurgle slightly. Obviously nothing compared to the burble tune, but it has some character at least haha

Kk cool thats what i thought and no does not pop like a real tune but once in a while if you punch it and release the pedal quickly you can get some pretty good ones!

Works with any exhaust. It’ll just sound slightly different.

Well the car has a cam in it now. So I redid the entire tune. But the strategy is the same for the pops.

Yup it's a stock ECU tuned with HP Tuners. Mine doesn't shoot flames but it has some serious burbles.

Unfortunately, I can't really help with that. I could remote tune it for you if you had an HP Tuners device and knew how to flash tunes using it, but that's about it. I would say just take it to a shop that knows how to tune Gen 5 GM vehicles, but unfortunately those are few and far between in my experience.

You will have to delete your cats if you want pops and bangs. That means stay out of California and register your car in a region that doesn't have emissions testing.

@@electric7487 You can still do it with cats. The pops won't be as loud. It will shorten their life though for sure.

Hey man, love the video. Is there a way to tune the car where the burbles are only in sport or track mode? Or is there a cheap gauge/controller where I can load multiple tunes? Thanks.

Yeah. You'd basically mess with the 0% accelerator position driver demand tables. There's the normal table and then the sport/track table. You'd just set the sport/track one to be more aggressive (lower values in that row) and have the normal mode use higher values so that it doesn't ramp out as much timing. It'll likely still pop a little, but not the super aggressive pops. As for a controller, you'd just have to get your own HP Tuners interface. There used to be an HP Tuners N-Gauge where you could have multiple tunes, but N-Gauge got EPA'ed out of business :/. I always carry my laptop bag with me anyway in case I need to scan codes or something.

Hey!! Awesome video. Was curious how this could be done. I guess my question is … I have an 800rwhp c7. The current exhaust is kooks headers/xpipe , npp Will this cause issues to performance I don’t want to risk issues

I show how to do it in the video. It will not cause performance issues if done correctly. It only affects how much spark is pulled under deceleration. Doesn’t affect anything else

@@adammason1587 It will affect gas mileage only if you disable DFCO. If you leave it enabled like I did, your fuel economy will be unaffected. However, it will definitely shorten the life of your cats. By doing this, you're allowing combustion to happen with the exhaust valve open essentially. So, the exhaust will get hotter than it would otherwise get. Extra heating of your cats will shorten their lives.

Yes. Just disable clutch fuel cutoff (CFCO) under the DFCO/fuel cut settings. There’s the decel fuel cut (DFCO) and the clutch cutoff (CFCO). If you disable CFCO, it’ll keep fueling while you shift and it’ll pop.

Hi, I have a doubt. With these virtual torque settings. Do you get the farts yet? Or does it have to be complemented with adjustments in the minimum spark table? I already had it done in the minimum spark table. I have also applied the virtual torque adjustments. It gives me the feeling that now it explodes stronger and with more fire... And another doubt. This was 3 years ago... is there a better way to do it now?

You need both. The minimum spark adjustments are to allow it to pull more timing, but with the default torque tables, it will stop pulling around 0 degrees. If you want to go into the negatives to get big pops like I did, you need the torque table modifications. There is no other method. The Gen V GM platform is torque-based. There is no getting around it.

@@RobsHouse Yeah. I have done. Now I get the strongest explosion.. but it still doesn't decelerate well at all... in 2nd gear it still pushes me when I release the accelerator... I have adjusted the spark to -20... maybe it is too much. DFCO is in stock. and the 2nd speed for example... when I decelerate it seems that DFCO does not work in the entire RPM regime... it is making bubbles all the time and the complete fuel cut-off does not come

Something must be wrong with your torque table settings. Mine reaches DFCO just fine. If you messed with the decelerating tap rates in the torque management, that can cause jerky behavior and/or not reaching DFCO. Those shouldn't be modified.

it will decrease the life of your catalytic converters if you have them. Aside from that, no.

Yes, although the torque management system is probably a bit different. I haven't messed with one. I believe they actually have a DFCO entry and exit spark, so you could probably just play with those values and achieve the same effect. Just lower the entry spark and your minimum spark values and it should do something similar.

What if you have an aftermarket can with a lockout and your intake can angle is always zero degrees? Would this method then affect drivability?

It will not because you're limiting to only messing with the deceleration cells. I actually have a cam in mine now, and it drives fine still.

I had all these same concerns when I installed the cam, but from my experience, it doesn’t affect take off because you’ll be at a higher airmass as soon as you touch the gas. Throttle will open and your cylinder airmass will increase. However, it can definitely affect idle which is why I only messed with 1800 rpm and up. To that end, taking off from a stop shouldn’t be affected even if the airmass was still low because I didn’t mess with the torque tables that low in the RPM range. I started at the 1800 rpm column so that it wouldn’t screw with idling or really low rpm stuff (stop and go bumper to bumper traffic for example)
