In Arizona there were drug runners in the 1990's/early 2000's that we called the night riders. I don't remember seeing anything about them on the news, probably because they didn't want to give people ideas, but they would drive from down by the border to whatever town or city they were going to at night, with all their lights off. They would be in super fast cars that were all black and they would be wearing night vision goggles. I heard from a cop in a small town I lived in that said one flew by him one night at like 2am that must have been going 150+ and he never even came close to catching it. We would see them from time to time on the I-17 flying through Phoenix when coming back from the club late at night.

@@bigt7706 I was driving a stripped down 97 Mercury Grand Marquis. It had highway gears in the rear end (2.73) shorty mustang headers dual exhaust with cat deletes traclock diff and a big nitrous bottle in the trunk that was setup for a 150 shot. My engine had a bit of work done, newer intake system, shaved PI heads, cams and it had injectors and throttle body from the 5.4l engine with a custom tune and the tranny had a j-mod done to it with the shorter aluminum copcar driveshaft and longer output snout. I had the top end limiter removed. I had good brakes and shocks on it with heavy sway-bars. He had more power than I did but I could keep up most of the time if I hit the nitrous. He pulled me on top-end though, my car topped out at 140mph. It had more in it but I was worried about the driveshaft blowing apart.

@@davidbrennan5 I enjoyed reading the post where you went through a list of modifications. I had a car in 1983. 1967 Impala,with staion wagon suspension parts(larger diam steering components) tuned shocks. 3.36 rearend out of 56 Olds. 350 turbo with plenty of work inside. 63 Vette 327 Camelbacks,big soild lifter cam,edelbrock aluminum manifold slight rise. Pistons were 10:1 instead of 12.5:1 so it burned pump gas not racing fuel. Factory high performance exhaust. Swapped interior for a Caprice interior for comfort. This car went so fast the wipers would float off windshield. Pushed well over 400H.P. which in those days to push a higher H.P then the cubic inch of engine size wasn't easy to do. The biggest Rochester Quad available from a big block car I had. (Quadrajet can be worked on easy,like only 26 moving pieces on them. Can take top off while still on intake.) Moroso 360degree harmonic balancer easier to time(points so the dwell was off) I usually timed my performance engines with vacuum gauge,at idle turn distributor to highest vacuum is better way in my opinion. It was fun car,the 460 Ford's, 454 chevys, couldn't stay with it after 100 mph. In them days no cop in Minnesota had a car that could catch it. But I ran the cops with my 70' Cuda 383 4 speed it wasn't as fast top end but it topped out much quicker. The Impala went over 150 easily, the Cuda about 130(3.90 rearend) I had 73 Cuda 340 3 speed(3.23 rearend) that would smoke the tires until about 90 it was my beater car. I had a few other cars that flew pretty good to. Back then it was easy to run cops. Not so much today. Anyway I can tell you know your shit with performance goodies. I paid for the 70 Cuda so I left it basic to stock. All my others would be considered rat rods now days I guess. Oh the countless hours of trial and error,just for a few mph more. HAHAHA dumb kid I was. But my cars went like RAPED APES is how we would describe a speed demon. A gearhead never lose interest in performance. But kids and wife gobble up more money than hot rods, so I had to grow up and by family cars. I am close to retirement age,I believe some 2010-2020 era mopar is in the future for me. This computer age makes it easy to find a wheel roasting ride. Detroit finally in last 20yrs really put some fast cars out again. I can talk performance all day but I will stop. Hope I didn't bore you with my antiquity. Take it easy. Keep them tires screeching and engine revving,because adrenaline is the best high you can catch! 😂😅😊 Peace out man

Not as impressive as doing 90 give or take a few down I-40 about 2am when suddenly a glowing red blur passes you like you're standing still and THEN you hear the scream of a turbocharged japanese streetbike. That passed you probably doing close to 200mph so fast it was only visible as a blurred red tail-light smear in the night.

This has a lot to do with how cameras pick up light vs how our eyes pick up light. Low quality dash cams don't and aren't meant for fine detail or wide lighting conditions. The camera has to adjust to an average amount of light it is capturing; while our eyes are capable of not only picking up more light but also adjusting our iris to the focus of our attention and not just the overall.

This guy is ultimately not getting away either, cop cars usually have scanners for license plates and if not, it's still on dashcam. Instead of what was probably gonna be a ticket, will now be cops showing up at his home tomorrow to arrest him for running. Often times, cops will not pursue dangerous chases for minor offenses *because* they have your plate and will just show up at your home later. Best just to take the ticket.
@justamanchimp
@justamanchimp Жыл бұрын
@@somewhereinspace2166 Nah I think he is getting away honestly, unless he really messes up somehow I guess. And.. I mean I'm just assuming he's not dumb enough to use a real plate lol. Assuming he's actually using a false plate, he's very likely to get away with it unless the driver does something pretty criminally egregious enough to warrant the police wanting to really catch the guy, e.g. it's clear they have a gun and are prepared to fire. Other than that, I think the reality of it is they're getting away. In the UK that isn't going to happen basically. We have what you call ANPR cameras (Automatic number plate recognition) and it's basically a vast network of strategically placed cameras that recognise number plates as they drive past, and it spans the entire country pretty much. You can't really drive anywhere without triggering one of these cameras. Even if the plate was false, whenever the car goes past a camera it will trigger an alert and the police can essentially use it to track and corner the driver. The only way a driver can scramble this is by literally swapping number plates on the fly like The Transporter if you've ever seen that movie? hahaha. The only way to evade it in this country is to build/steal a "sleeper" car where you take the most generic common car and make it fast and then you rotate cloned plates of identical cars that are legit. You have the advantage of safety in numbers so to speak. The mistake most racers make is making their car identifiable even without plates basically, e.g. stickers, custom alloys, none standard colours, etc. A standard black VW Golf, or a white bmw, a blue Ford Focus maybe, these kinda cars are pretty much the perfect criminal car in this country because they're small, can be made very quick and they are so common it will be almost impossible for police to identify them. The only way they'd get you is if the cloned plate you're using happens to be involved in something illegal, e.g. insurance expired, and so the next time an officer is behind you it will obviously trigger an alert and they'll pull you over and do the checks. At this point you're obviously screwed.

Hit a button to spray the oil backwards around a sharp corner. The NPC cops come full blast and spin out. I've never seen them post those videos. Morons. Or press another button and release spikes (caltrops) at random on tight stretches. Don't buy caltrops online. Easily traceable. Make your own in the videogame. Had this in my first car (european Ford Taunus 1.6 litre) and it worked for oncoming cops turning to catch you when you were speeding; ghost mode on and take the first intersection, they'd race past the intersection doing warp speed ten wondering how far I could possibly have gone - especially with a regular Taunus XD
