I have said that as well after watching cop videos. They are already on edge to begin with and have trained to draw their weapon when they feel threatened. (I don't blame them) I've seen a cop shoot someone at point blank range for a traffic stop because the driver proclaimed he was armed, probably as to not surprise the cop. He reached for his wallet and the cop thought he was going for his weapon. The guy had no criminal record and was driving with a family. Another guy also got shot to death when he was told to get on his knees and walk towards them with his hands up. He was crying and saying, "please don't shoot me, I don't want to die" all the while. His other hand reached down to pull his shorts up and even before he could got shot. There's also that "Acorn" incident, where a cop shot at a man already detained with his hands cuffed behind his back at the back of his patrol car. When going around to get to the driver side, an acorn fell on his patrol car and though he was getting shot at with the man that was described. He emptied his clip shooting the back of his own patrol car...That's just the stories I know at the top of my head. TL;DR Cops are dangerous, be extra careful and don't make sudden movements during an interaction.

He wasn't briefed. He was on a stop and saw a gun. It's fucking awful, but it's not even his fault. In that situation, 99.99% of the time, you are guaranteed not dealing with an undercover, and your reaction time is all that keeps you from getting your family a flag for Christmas. There was a communication failure, and it caused a fuckin tragedy. Makes you wonder what you might actually do in the exact same scenario cause I promise you, your hindsight isn't going to do you any good in the moment when shit is actively hitting the fan and you don't have the luxury of time and peace. Being on the streets, dealing with people, who may or may not decide to use their braincells today, and have a 50/50 split chance of hating police or not, tends to be a little more difficult than having a morning tea and book club session with grandpa. You're not discussing Chaucer with cousin Elliot, you're explaining that driving into oncoming traffic with a beer in your hand is illegal to Suzy "BJ" Lacey for the 9th time in thirty minutes because she's twacked out of her gourd on meth, and can't think any further than she can see down the street. It's chaos, and people are either wasting your time, being stupid, or evil freaks like Dahmer. And it's all, all too common. That guy shot his friend and colleague. He's going to live with that mistake torturing him for the rest of his existence. You're doing nobody any good, so why the fuck say it at all? Object the situation all you want, I'll agree the whole time. The lack of communication is abhorrent and should never have happened. Neither officer should have been placed in that situation. But mocking the guy while you can listen to him actively suffering and begging his friend not to die is where I call bullshit, my friend.

@@chancecompton4061 Like I said earlier, ALL these situations could have been handled SAFELY!!! Why is it whenever cops have their weapons drawn and they spot a gun, they IMMEDIATELY start shooting like it's the wild west. What person has actually tried to outshoot a cop that was NOT a criminal? Even a criminal with a gun, once captured or stopped by one or more armed cops is, most of the time not looking for an "attempted murder of a police officer" charge!! This is why armed security guards heading home or to work, INNOCENT LICENSED CITIZENS and the like get killed during what should be a routine traffic stop!! Not for attempted murder, but rather for simply exercising their 2nd amendment right which is LEGAL. IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO BE CARRYING A FIREARM, DON"T FUCKING SHOOT!! INVESTIGATE, USE WHAT LITTLE BRAIN IS IN THAT HEAD OF YOURS BEFORE YOU END SOMEBODY's LOVED ONES LIFE, THEY CAN'T COME BACK AFTER YOUR INCOMPETENCE!!!

The first officer should have been arrested and charged. Obviously the undercover cop did not threaten his fellow uniformed officer with a firearm, so that means Brachle saw a gun simply existing and opened fire. Not being pointed, not being wielded in a threatening manner, just existing. Opening fire at the mere sight of a firearm in a country where firearms are normal is not acceptable behavior, easy excessive force lawsuit if the victim hadn't been an undercover cop.

If Civ on Civ shootings happen, both are initially held and questioned if both parties are alive and fit for trial/court/investigation. That’s a he said she said. So notice how the Blue on Blue are all recorded by Body Cam? They don’t get in trouble because of this, and IA does a thorough investigation on the Offending Officer. Driving fast, which requires attention. Listening to the radio, which requires attention. Then seeing something, and studies show it takes around 1.5 seconds for something in our "OODA Loop" to register, it's completely believable what happened. On the flip side, you have to lessen the other two...pay attention to your speed knowing it'll take you time to react.

Why do you think they aren't worried about that? You ever served in the Military or Police? Doubtful with such a Comment. As much as me as a German where the Police is much better trained and agreeing that American Police needs a lot of reforming (Longer Training and Standards) like we have here in Germany. I find Comments like this absolutely dumb. I can guarantee you that every Cop, even a lot of those untrained ones in the USA definitely don't feel good after shooting anyone, even if it's a Suspect that has a Gun it stays with you. Comments like this are one of the other Problems in the USA regarding the Police, very absurd Opinions about Police Officers thanks to the Media or a few "Bad Apples", which every Country has in their Police Force every now and then, even our European Countries where you need to train for 3-4 Years to even be allowed to have a Weapon and patrol. So as much as i criticise the USA Police Force and how easily they accept People in their Job without proper long-term Training and quarterly Psychological Check-Ups, it seems the Public definitely isn't much better with naive Opinions like this. Crazy how much Social Media and the Media made People think this crazy about the Police Force in the USA in general. Be smarter than that Friend Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps

(we have around 1/4 of the polulation yet it took us 80 years to kill as many as usa police in one year shoots to death.... really revealing i think....)

Some of our fast-tracked officers here are given like 2 months of training before they get to be a partner to an experienced officer. They basically get armed, on-the-job training. They're supposed to learn traffic stops etc but here... it's the wild west. Everyone is on amphetamines and heavily armed. Last weekend I found a Nissan Altima in a dry river bed. Freshly crashed, the engine was still hot. Took the cops about 2 hours to get there...

They say that when a baton is in the hands of a police officer that it's a "non-lethal" weapon... but when it's in the hands of a citizen, it's a lethal weapon... because cops are trained to not kill with them, despite the fact that cops will with them... and I write this, because I'm legitimately surprised they haven't ruled that firearms are "non-lethal" weapons when in the hands of a police officer. We allow them to get away with so much insanity, it legitimately surprises me when they don't take whatever BS they're trying to sell us to the logical conclusion.

Or maybe you should go watch some compilations of cops saving people's lives, doing good deeds, and some statistics on how many cops die annually. It's easy to sit here entertaining yourself with the violence and the politics and the fear mongering and find yourself losing touch with reality. Or even better, why don't you come up with a more realistic solution than "make cops more vulnerable so their mortality rate increases and we have a shortage of candidates, so crime skyrockets". If you don't think that's how it goes, look up literally any city that has cut funding for police and the rise of crime thereafter. Sitting here calling them militarized and paranoid while they try to police the most dangerous 1st world populace on Earth, just isn't very convincing.
