I just bought my 14 C7 about a month ago and the first thing I noticed was the back up camera is terrible. It's very glitchy, sometimes the screen goes black when I go to back up and it takes a min to turn on. Plus the colors in the screen look very distorted. I figured maybe it needed a new head unit all together but it's not that highest of importance on my list at the moment. Thanks for sharing this video. I prob need to update mine but one thing I noticed you said was when you upgrade your unit you typically lose the exhaust or drive mode change on the screen. Well I looked everywhere on mine and that drive mode or exhaust change is not on there so it makes me wonder if the original owner already had this replaced at some point. If he did it's either not hooked up right or it's just plain terrible. I guess I need to check with my extended warranty to see if they will cover it. Prob not and I really don't want to spend $1000-$1500 to get it replaced. There has to be a less expensive aftermarket option out there that is better than the one I have now

Hi, just found your video. I bought my 14 z51 convertible last August, just as the cell companies were stopping support of the 2g/3g systems. My question is, what am I missing other than Onstar, by not having that connectivity and what should I do to fix that if I need to? Thanks for your help. Richard

were you able to fix the drive mode settings not showing on screen?

I figured out which CAN message was missing on my test bench. But I ended up selling the car for a 17 GS and never went any further with hacking a fix into the 14 BCM.

would an MDI be able to fix it?

On the dashboard you might be on the tour setting and you had the picture of the Vette on the dash.

Sorry I missed this earlier. It's pretty easy. Use the arrow keys on the right side of the steering wheel. Click the left arrow once. That'll pop up a menu on the left side of the cluster. Select the second option from the top. That'll be the Performance menu. You'll see the main image change to the picture of the car, and it'll have the stats to the right of the picture. Press the SEL button in the middle of the arrow keys to accept the change and close the menu.

Jeff, have you had any experience with the infotainment screen failure on a 2014 C7 lines running through and screen going black. Is there a GM update. Tks

Hey Jeff, Can you do a video on how you got the car icon on the dash display?

Do you have to have your phone plugged into the USB port for Android auto to work?
@jeffv.38534 жыл бұрын
Yes. I've heard there's some kind of wireless adapter dongle you can buy, but I've never looked into the specifics.

All you needed was a 2.5 with navigation and plug in a gps antenna.

I’m a new owner, how did you get the upgrade and how much did it cost? Thx
@jeffv.38535 жыл бұрын
I bought used parts off eBay and programmed them myself. You need some special tools and software to do that though. Unless you're *really* comfortable tinkering and taking some risks with the electronics in your car, you're really better off buying from one of the vendors like Infotainment.com. There's a really good discussion on the topic here: www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-z06-discussion/4103832-14-15-z51-z06-owners-chime-in-if-you-updated-your-hmi.html

@@jeffv.3853 What did it run you to DIY rather than buy from vendor similar to your suggestion? Can you describe the programming you need to do. Theirs would currently run $999 [$1499 w/NAV]. I keep reading of Googles upgrades becoming "buggy" ... are you experiencing that?

Hey Jeff just installed this myself and I have a question... When in Android Auto does your steering wheel control for changing song work? Thanks!
