I have a 17 ZO6 and the car handles like it is on rails. My last ride was a DLM S/C Viper with 960 rwhp. Other then a straight run the Z spanks it in every category. This is my first automatic and the 8 speed is incredible. The Hellcat is a great car in its on right but it handles like a 1990 muscle car. Yes it rides better then the Camaro or Mustang but they also will run away from the Hellcat if the road has any twists in it.

On just pure performance the Z06 is impressive. But the Hellcat is truly special. Its a car that has tremendous speed and you can live with a Hellcat, DAILY. There is no situation where the Hellcat is out of place in the real world and its one heck of a performer at the drag strip. Not to mention its a $70K car. At least now with all the dealer markups finally coming to a stop. The chevy is bad ass, but to me its a one trick pony.

How is the Vette a one trick pony when it is extremely quick in a straight line, can handle like it's no one's business, and will stop from 60 in under 100 ft. It's not referenced "fat cat" without reason. Doggon thing weighs nearly 1,000 lbs. more than the Z07. Anyone should know that 57 more horsepower at the crank isn't enough to compensate for that kind of weight disadvantage. Not taking anything away from the Vette. Those were some pretty impressive times. But you can't 'truly' compare these two head-to-head at the strip. Practically the only advantage the Charger has on it is that you can cram more bodies in the cabin and trunk, than you can in the Vette 😅

Actual dyno numbers give the Hellcat a ~70whp advantage and even more of a gap in the power under the curve if you see a dyno overlay of both. That Lysholm 2.4L is a monster of a blower and this coming from a C7 guy. I agree though, the weight difference is astronomical.

Ahh. Gotcha. So everything from the front splitter, to the end plates, to the wickerbill & spats, to the slightly more aggressive tires is referenced as the "Z07" package... Not to mention, the carbon ceramics 👌 I was led to believe that by hearing and seeing conversation on both sides of the spectrum, that it could have a few of those key elements to be referenced a Z07. My bad on that. Good point about the output though.. Taking it from that context the Hellcat creates closer to 100 more horsepower at the wheels. Seems as though ultimately it needs to undergo some sort of "gastric" surgery to help shave some weight to be a better contender on the track. Who knows if, or when that may ever happen 😡 👊

And chevrolet themselves have said they would be more than happy to implement these fixes on 15/16 year models despite it being less than 5% of owners that actually experienced the problem. But this Z0 had a tube too. So they both were tuned. The DA was 1509 ft ASL. This Z0 was not on stock rubber either. I looked at both cars and talked to them separately.

No hellcat, stock , of the probably 40 I've seen run, stock, got under 11.7 and the fastest was 123 mph. The fastest stock C7 Z0 on stock rubber I've seen was 11.5@125.... vette was the winner but impressive mopar overweight under tire and still so fast. hellcat motor should be crowned as americas king of engines. Thanks to dodge victorious in the 60's banned in the 70's too fast as the competition cried and clearly victorious today. MOPAR.

Dodge has a stronger tranny and way more powerful motor to be able to carry round that muxh weight and compete with a sports car that don't weigh anything.

Theyre different purposes. I wouldn't even compare the two. The Charger was meant for the family guy who still wants power. The Corvette is an amazing car that was designed for a road course. Please stop comparing the two. Theyre in different categories.

Montana Harley well the vette is a race car, it has to be light. It's design was for a totally different purpose obviously. It is impressive but not really, 707 hp with 650 lb ft of torque will make you fly regardless

im a dodge fan and have modified my challenger which runs faster than the hellcat . Both cars had good runs, were the cars running on drag radials ? Stingrays do look good as do the challengers.

I'm not gonna get into the which car is tuned or mods but if we punch in the numbers power to weight ratio, the C07 is a quicker and faster car than the hellcat. I just prefer challenger look than any car out there which is why i bought myself a challenger and modified to be quicker and faster than the hellcat.

Ha top end vett barley beats a 4 Door monster! Corvettes are very uncomfortable to ride in their only function is going fast. Hellcat is the clear winner here

While I have nothing against the hellcat and it's very impressive how close the times were, I can say you are very wrong about the corvette being uncomfortable. I'm 22 and daily drive a z06 and its very comfortable for normal driving

Take it for whatever you want. The vette won on stock tires. The guy really knows how to launch that thing. The Mopar is fast for a 4 door. Do you think, after the race, he pulled a Paul Walker and said, "I almost got you!"? No miracles occurred during filming bit, it looked like a good time at the track. Nothing blew up and the cars were running fast.

Was the hellcat an automatic or standard? The automatic is faster. Since we cannot tell from the video...guessing the uys wasn't good at shifting it either. I have also seen multiple hellcats run all around 10.8 or 11.00. So they are both probably about the same quickness. But one is cheaper much cheaper and fits 4 people. It sure is hard to compare a sports car 2 passenger to 4 passenger car.

+Harry Ferrell The quickest Z07 package-equipped Z06 belongs to Joe Castellano at 10.42. That was 100% stock down to the stock Sport Cup 2 tires. The car you're referring to has the base/stage 1 aero package not the Z07.

Besides the Charger had drag radials 😂 the Corvette is a great performer, it’s designed to go around a track but Chevy knows what they’re doing 😉. But I like the Charger, I’d grab one if I could

The thing to realize here is that both cars have different buyers for their markets. Both are amazing cars for what they are and comparing the two against one another is always going to be an argument in futility. There's a reason Chevy keeps building the Vette, just like the reason Dodge keeps building the Hellcats. Superior cars for superior markets. Both excelled at what they do best, making power, and being American muscle.

Heats up the tires. Hot tires stick better than cold tires. Yes, it does wear down your treads quicker but that takes a while before it becomes a bad thing.
