Oil to Air cooling is found to be more efficient than adding a radiator to the oil to water system. In Part 4 the plumbing is revised to run oil instead of water through the heat exchanger. • C7 Z06 Overheating Fix... Click on SHOW MORE below for more info.

A diagram from Tadge Juechter shows max coolant temp at 239f and the GM shop manual shows that the Coolant Over Temperature Light appears at 256f. After uploading the Cosworth PI Toolbox I found that actual ambient temperature was 98f not 90f as shown in the video.

In 2017 Chevorlet upgraded the C7 Z06 cooling system by adding a horizontally mounted radiator/heat exchanger behind the front grill. On automatic transmission models the horizontally mounted radiator was used as a transmission cooler and on manual transmission models the horizontal radiator cooled coolant coming from the oil to water oil cooler. Since this car is a post 2017 automatic the horizontal cooler is used to cool the transmission. This DIY wheel well cooler is plumed to cool the coolant coming from the water to oil cooler but can be used to cool anything even the intercooler coolant.
It seems if the coolant is keep under control, the water to oil cooler is able to do it's job. In the future I may plumb in the horizontal cooler for added coolant cooling instead of transmission cooling since coolant temp reached 241f after only 5 laps. The factory horizontal cooler is now used for the auto transmission but it may not be needed with the added Setrab 625 cooler in the other wheel well since the automatic transmission temps never went above 180f and I heard it can go to 275f no problem. I suspect the factory horizontal cooler to be in the 30k-40k BTU range. The Setrab series 6 25row is rated at 33k-46k BTU and the Setrab series 6 34row is rated at 43k-59K BTU, & they are also mounted vertically. If more cooling is needed I can always replace the drivers side Setrab 625 with a 634.

Cool vid.Hungry for any kind of cooling tech. I would like to add some of this tech to the C6 but seems little is offered for me. What is that horizontal HX right in front of the radiator? Is that the auxiliary radiator? How does that tie in? I can find little info on this part but may be the answer to my own troubles with forced induction LS7 cooling. Thanks!

The horizontal cooler is a factory GM Part #84309470 they added in 2017+. In the automatic transmission models it is used to cool transmission fluid. In manual trans models it is used to cool the coolant coming from the oil to water engine oil cooler. I'm currently using it to cool engine oil directly. Here is the video on how I installed it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3aZe3pviMuZh6s

What oil cooler do you use for the 335i and how many? Haven't tracked my 135i at 90F degree weather or more and haven't had any issues at the track. I'm using a csf radiator and the track setup on mhd.

The 335 has two Setrab series 6 25 row coolers and one Setrab series 1 19 row in series. Here's the install of the first two. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHm1Y6uagrCBr5I

@@DailyDriverTracking Great video straight to the point. These projects never end. I probably do the oil thermostat plate delete then install a bigger oil cooler on the passenger side then go from there.

@@DailyDriverTracking Yes I've been watching the global time attack event he was racing (last year) and I've seen his build. I've been watching couple other guys with the 135i track setup. Tony Fuentes gave up on the platform, his car was a beast! I'm building my car for mild track use and to enjoy the car on the weekends.
