Very nice driving. I have my C8 Z51 being delivered this weekend, after a very long wait. I plan to track it occasionally. Can I ask what you modified to your car, such as coil-overs, larger brakes, etc. I haven't seen many youtube videos for guys tracking their cars, as I'm trying to learn from others. Thanks Craig

Your needs will vary depending on your previous experience and rate at which the limitations become worth solving. If you haven't done track days at all, keep it simple for the first time as you learn how to handle your car and understand what is going on in a track environment (meaning watching flag stations, handling traffic, using all of the track appropriately etc.). I would just recommend the following first time out: transmission oil top up, fit the brake ducts, and put in higher temperature brake fluid (e.g. Castrol SRF Racing Brake Fluid is excellent). These all mean you can go quickly and you won't be worried about things getting too hot. Next time out: Get brake pads suitable for track use (e.g. I use CarboTech XP12 compound at the moment and this is good for the weight of the car with the std. Michelin 4S tires or Sport Cup 2's.) The original Ferodo pads will get used up quickly but they do perform well. A track pad will last longer and work better when it is hot. I wouldn't worry about the wheel camber adjustment for track until after at least 3-4 days out. It won't help a lot except in certain situations and it is more involved (expensive) to get adjusted than a regular car. Mine is at the Chevy specified track alignment and I think it helps but I also don't think all 3 degrees camber is needed for most corner types. I'm not sure yet - I may reduce the camber a little in future. I had 20 track days experience in my Camaro SS before this car. Similar weight, similar HP and so similar loads on brakes and tires. I decided to replace the standard brake rotors and calipers on all four wheels prior to my first track day. The main reasons are: 1. The red calipers are pretty and I'm going to do a bunch of track days. I'm better off keeping the originals in good shape to put back on when I sell the car. 2. The AP Racing brakes I got enable easier pad changes AND have the same pad shape/size for both front and rear. This means that as the front sets wear faster, I can move them to the rear and get more life overall out of the pads. I keep newer pads on the front since they work hard, and the pad mass mitigates heat build up. 3. The larger rotors and range of pad options will help if I go to slicks later (which I hope too). YOU DON'T NEED TO GO THIS ROUTE for your Corvette to be fast on track. I would say Girodisc front two piece rotors would be a great choice once you have worn out or warped your original rotors.

@@mattevans2003 Thanks for the info. I used to track my Porsche at most of the local tracks here in So Cal, especially Willow Springs Raceway, but it's been years. Initially, I guess I'll add the 2 quarts of DCT, track alignment, perhaps as you mentioned better brake fluid too. Are you running your stock Z51 suspension had it lowered? Thanks for the tips....

@@craigwarner949 My suspension works great standard. It's the mag ride so track mode is firm, without much roll. Standard wheels and tires too at this point. Only significant upgrade is brakes, brake fluid and brake pads.

@@mattevans2003 Thanks. Keep posting your track videos. The only other person I've seen tracking their C8 is Speed Phenom and he uses GoPro in-car camera. But love your PDR view since it shows much more drivers info such as lap times, MPH, shift points, etc.
