From a dig ot will be a close race... Z06 got too much power for the c8 in a roll but it would be interesting. Would like to see them compared on a road course though. A tight track and the c8 will be close. Impressive platform..

Well exhaust doesn't add any horsepower and the c8 still won from a roll, so only the light weight wheels helped but probably not a lot. And the c7 did do very well

Love how they are so different, but at the same time so so similar, even though the new one has the engine in the back it's still very much Corvette styling. Both have exact same engine note, though C8 is louder due to modified exhaust.

I had an 02 c5z....moved to a c6z....drove my buddies c7z....sold my c6z and bought another 02 c5z and forged and supercharged it.....I am happy again. I learned that the newest cost more and isn't new a year later. Get what you like and be happy.

I agree. They started going wrong with the c7 and it’s goofy styling, then went full blown euro with the c8. No doubt it’s a better platform for pure road racing but it’s ugly compared to a classic long nose vette, especially c6 and earlier.

mcwriter007 no, not at all, but it does give a great example as to how fantastic the c7 and c8 both are from “stock”. really that c8 probably only got a 20 or so hp boost from the exhaust, and it has more than the c7 by i think 40 or so hp stock, and that c7 still hung in there

Just guessing, C8 had 80lbs saved at the wheels and 30hp gained on exhaust? Doesn't sound like Hennessy to not tune after those mods, but since it's not stated I take their word pcm wasn't touched..Certainly seems as though the open exhaust and light wheels on the C8 gave it an edge. Based on this test, the C7 would have won by the same gap length had they both been stock.

Very interesting! It went as expected! The +35hp and dual clutch trans. made the difference, but it’s not night and day! Maybe without the full exhaust ( normally it gets a few extra hp ), the race could be even closer! I’d love to see the new C8 against a stock C6 Z06!🙏🏻🙏🏻

Funny the different strong opinions about looks here. Corvette C5 Z06 to now the C8 are all awesome bang for buck cars. For looks alone I liked the C6, I still don’t like the looks of the C7, but I liked the C8 right away! Maybe I am biased because my mini-car is also mid engine and looks like the Venom GT. 😉
