Down hand welding isn’t very strong in any application. Especially on dozer corners where all of the force is applied. Up hill welds are stronger. And stronger welds are better with a duel shield flux wire and gas.

I was stationed in Alaska for six years back in 1969. The snow removal up there is epic to say the least. I went to a radar site in northern Alaska in the winter. The Air Force air lifted two D8 dozers to the site to help us rebuild the top camp radar site. It is amazing how those things could remove six feet of snow from a road with 5 - 180 deg switchbacks..

When you raise 2 boys you never know if both will turn out how you raised them. With Tucker and hunter the jury is in. They are both the real deal. Tucker my golly he can weld,cut and grind with the best there is. I really enjoy watching him. It warms my heart. Two of my sons are professional welders but Tucker at his age. Tucker, kudos to you for doing some very nice fitting and welding on your various projects. I would recommend on this dozer blade to weld and install the end plates last, this would allow for the welding of the box sections to be welded entirely. Also, bevel your rolled backboard to allow for through and through welding of the material. These dozers are tough machines and they will expose any and all structural welded weak points during operation. Keep up the good work young man. 👍🏼

I remember being around Tuckers age maybe a year or two younger, I had zero exposure to metal fabrication and welding. In school shop class my multiple attempts at stick welding resulted in horrible looking welds and usually a tug o war from sticking the rod to the bench. Tuckers welds look like he has been doing it for many years, definitely has some mad skills.
