TerraGermania is a channel I have watched from the start. Very good and down to earth. I enjoy watching any metal detecting videos from around the world except England. They are so arsey and competitive it makes me sick. Thats coming from someone who has been metal detecting in England for the past 40 years.

@Tony Two-Cent. If you liked this one, you would also love Aquachigger's silver find in a river (probably a spill at a river ford). He found over 150 coins, none of which were newer than 1838. Most were U.S. halves, but there were a number of foriegn ones as well. It took at least two trips to find them.

Another thought was perhaps a person attacked by Indians and lost there money, spread everywhere. Either way it was a magic video and congratulations to all concerned a job well done good luck on you future hunts, I take it it was an area related to the gold rush period?. Thankyou Paul I would love to find a gold sovereign here one day that would be great.

Can you please tell me how you research areas like this!! Not looking for your place, but how do you research these areas???
@RonSwensonRelicAdventures6 жыл бұрын
Most of our sites are located via old maps. Usually old survey maps. Other useful items are old historical books about a specific area, or old diaries that mention certain stops etc. Then the records office will hold all the owner information you will need if it is not public. Good Luck

+CA Relic Adventures w/ Ron Swenson & Mark Dayton Hey, if you don't find them, who will? If people are too lazy to get up off the couch to swing a detector, their los, your gain. Uh, (clears throat and asks innocently:) where's that field at again?
@47485ksc8 жыл бұрын
+CA Relic Adventures w/ Ron Swenson & Mark Dayton Oh, why such large coins? No smaller silver/gold? Any reason for that? Ever heard of the country's last train robbery south of Ashland, Oregon, near the California border? There's supposedly silver dollars (still) scattered after the robbers used too much dynamite (killing a conductor) I live 40 miles north but I remember the explosion was at the other end of the Siskiyou Summit railroad tunnel. Youse guys come up here and we'll get together. Less than 2 miles from my house (outside Gold Hill, Oregon) is the lost gold of a stage coach robbery. I have the Lost Treasure Magazine article on it. Supposidly still unfound. Bag of gold dust hidden at the bas of a Madrone tree. The old man who used to own the property is still living and right down the road from me. I'm just looking for a "partner" to hike on back (about a mile) and start swinging detectors with me. I have satellite footage to look at on my computer. I own 4 Whites. I always have at least one in the back of my truck. Get a hold of me at daviddaveinternational@gmail.com I can't be but more than 5 or 6 hours north of y'all.

Three gold coins found 15/20 feet from Andrews Spill? Andres started it? Sounds like this is part of Andrews Spill and metal detecting ethics would have told you to stay away from Andrews area. What a shame!!!
@RonSwensonRelicAdventures5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by but your assumptions are 100% off. Everything was above board with everything 100% discussed prior to the Gold coins being found. The golds were considerably farther away than what is stated and we hunted the general area of the spill for 20 minutes with no additional signals prior to agreeing that the site was open. So NO SHAME with these finds and pretty generous to let a guest hunt these types of sites with us. (and keep everything they find)
@johncreech66175 жыл бұрын
Andrew called you over. You guys jokenly say you knocked Andrew out and hunted his area? You also state Andrew starts it and now your getting into it. Mark did the research and it's fitting that he gets a good coin. You clearly thank Andrew for finding the first gold coin and you clearly state you guys are 15-20 feet from where the spill is. You guys should have walked back to where you were called from and allowed Andrew to search his area with his metal detector. No ethics in what you guys did and any veteran metal detectorist would tell you the same. And this thing about being generous and allowing guests to metal detect and keeping whatever they find? That's your added bonus? If you invite someone to go hunt the location in which you yourself are a guest it's finders keepers. Since when do detectorists ask other detectorists to hand over there finds to them. Not doing so is generious? The only time you would hand something over is if it has been agreed upon by the detectorists and the landowner. I've been metal detecting with other people for over 30 years and yes there is a code of ethics.
@RonSwensonRelicAdventures5 жыл бұрын
John you are way off but entitled to your opinion First off--we always call each other over. We are not trying to hide finds from each other-- we always do that so that is not uncommon. Yes we said a lot in the excitement of the find- I didn't have a tape measure with me I was about 10-15 feet from Andrew when he found the 1st half dollar so didn't have far to walk back to. Some of those coins were within feet of my original location so I probably was entitled to dig and keep what I found but we didn't. They (Coins) were not all 2 feet from the originals they were spread out . Some were 10-15 feet from the original find. But we let him dig every target in that area. The gold coins were at least 40-50 feet from the "spill" It was rather dark when the golds popped out so distance was just an estimate when stated on the video. Just "in the moment" comments -not literal tape measure measurements. Two coins does not make a spill/Cache so we could have just dug and kept what we were hearing. But I felt it was more important to keep the find "whole" once we started hearing all the signals in that initial area. After 15-20 minutes with no signals we all decided as a group that we could beep and dig again. So we widened the area and started hunting again. I guess you feel whoever finds the first couple targets gets the entire site? FYI -- I left with ZERO coins Ethics?? Andrew was fine with the situation and we discussed at what point we all get to dig again. So I would say if he gave us the green light then your ethics comments go right out the window as it does not apply. If you have permission then it is not a ethics situation. We don't ask anyone to turn over their finds!! You are really reaching now with those last "generous" comments!! But YES we are generous to take people to sites that have these types of opportunities for great finds. The generosity is in the act of sharing these sites but you tried to tie it to the act of them keeping what they find. That is common sense and not "code of ethics". Again, you are entitled to your "30 years of experience" opinions but they simply do not apply to this situation and without you being there you have no idea of what/where or why things happened as they did. You simply saw video clips of things being found with no additional info/details or actions to fill in the gaps. Best of luck to you out there.
@johncreech66175 жыл бұрын
First of all when a group of veteran detectorists go metal detecting we often do call one another to check our finds; however, we NEVER metal detect someone's HOT SPOT and that is exactly what both of you did. Everything is on video and at no moment have I wavered from what is happening on this video. Your total changing the facts from 15-20 feet to 50+ feet. It was dark and I could not calculate the distance is just a manipulation of the facts. It's on video!!! I'm not making this stuff up. Just listen to what Mark says after you say "It's only fitting that he gets a good coin"....... why don't you quote what he say? Quote him!! Those three gold coins were part of that spill and we're found 10-20 feet and is part of that spill. Coin dates, condition, and the FACT that they were found 15-20 feet from where that KID found gold and silver coins dated within 20 years of those gold coins. That's literally 6 steps from where this kid is digging. And it's only fitting that he gets a good coin?...... Just because you took the KID to your location it's only fitting that he gets a good coin? I'm quoting what is said on the video....not making this up. What you should have done was tell him to search his area for more coins and walk back to your location and keep hunting....which you did not. You both totally took advantage of Andrews find. Hey it's on video!!! I'm not making this stuff up. You even said quote "Andrew started it and now we are on it" end quote. And yes I've metal detected for over 30 years in two different continents and in those 30 years I have never......tempting as it might have been....because I too have been tempted....have I ever metal detected someone's Hot Spot. So absolutely no ethics in what you two did. Hey Anthony, Paco, Juan check what I just found....and if Anthony, Paco or Juan started metal detecting my HOT SPOT....well iethics would tell you to watch or walk away.
@goldbunny19735 жыл бұрын
I guess you can agree in advance that if anyone finds a certain coin you automatically get to search 10m radius around it...but these guys are pals so you don't want to be a greedy s.o.b. I mean - without the research you wouldn't' even be in the right places..

I have probably watched this video 50 times over the years it's the video I watch to get me back in the right detecting headspace when good finds seem to dwindle and I hit a dry spell. Everyone that has been metal detecting for a long time knows the feeling and also how your hunting instantly changes when you find gold. This video really helps me cause I feel like it's super close to where I live and hunt in gold country Ca. Placerville still haven't found that gold coin but I have bought a couple with other finds. Thanks for sharing such a great video.

This video is six years old and I’m excited as if they’re finding these coins in Jan 2021! Andrew’s mom probably told him as a kid to stop playing in the mud or one day you’ll find yourself digging in a field somewhere hoping you’ll find gold. LOL THIS DIG IS JUST AMAZING. WAY TO GO! I’M SPEECHLESS. This is the best detecting video I’ve watched.

Unbelievable finds gentlemen and yes, it can be attributed not only to excellent metal detecting but equally excellent researching of the sites. Well done and a much deserved treasure for you guys!

Very well done. I'm also well overdue for a gold coin too. In fact I've left a space in my box for one.

@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures We used to live in San Jose and would go to Reno a lot. I wish I was into metal detecting back then. We left Calif in 1992 for NC where we live now.

We left California 3 years ago and now my videos are mostly in Virginia but I trip down to Charleston every year so have a few videos of that area as well.

@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures Nice, I will check them out for sure. I always remember drooling over a video of you digging a large gold nugget in California. My wife said to me, “why can’t YOU ever find one of those?” I’m sure going to miss her. 🤪

Finding things from where you live is the best however! I found Roman and Medieval coins around the city where I live in and was born…! 😎👍🍀 That’s priceless… Good luck to you!
