[CA v. Menendez, 1993] One of the first witnesses in CA v. Menendez was the 911 operator. An emotional Lyle called police to report the shooting deaths of their parents, Jose & Kitty Menendez. Then, a neighbor recalls hearing the gunshots thinking the sounds were firecrackers.
Netflix is releasing a new true-crime drama September 19 examining the lives of the Menendez brothers, convicted of the brutal 1989 murders of their parents in Beverly Hills.

So I never really understood or watched this whole thing, even though lived in Bay Area, I was having my son at that time but from comments, saying the parents abused the sons? I’m guessing the sons didn’t move out because they wouldn’t get their parent’s money? So kill them is pretty ignorant when you then spend life in prison!! Did the Mom abuse them too? Should have reported the abuse, filed a report of some kind because if father was guilty, he has other victims but killing the Mom was just evil. (Wow The cassette tapes, player & hairstyles sure take me back!)

ah. this is why you must do a research and not read comments. yes, the brothers were abused. mostly by their dad. BUT if you listened to the opening statement made leslie abramson in erik's trial, you would know how was erik sexually abused by his dad when he was a little boy. there are some really disgusting details. the mother knew about the abuse and did not tell anything. she most likely heard erik's screams when his dad r*ped him when he was 11, but she simply didn't care. there is a lot evidence from past sexual abuse victims who were in the same situation, the ones who didn't tell anything when they knew about the abuse were as evil as the abusers. this is the biggest betrayal. and she was their MOTHER. imagine knowing that your sons are abused and you won't say or do anything. that's EVIL. also, no, they couldn't just move out. they were young. they had no money. parents should provide for you in this age. erik was 18 and lyle 21. i'm 22 and i'm still living with my parents because i study college. they were studying too. they couldn't just take dad's money and run away. victims have this attachment to their abuser, it's weird, but they are blaming themselves and they STAY with the abuser. it's sad, but it happens, this is basic psychology. now, what you can do is this - don't read comments and try to look at the evidence. the abuse was real, they had many witnesses, including family members. the brothers' were also on the stand and their testimony was real and sad. many body language experts said this is true response from abuse victims. it's horrible what happened to these boys. this is why many people are supporting them. and you should too.

This was one case that got me...first I thought they were guilty but after watching the trial I then thought they were innocent...then as time went and their actions clearly showed that they were in fact the killers themselves...they did an Oscar performance...

So the fact that 50+ witnesses testifying how dangerous, violent, and brutal their father was, not to mention that he had other victims outside the family, means nothing to you?? Even his coworkers hated and were scared of him! His own family wouldn't ever dare stand up to him but you think the brothers wouldn't be scared?? Btw, it was said during the trial that the parents were not sitting down "watching tv eating ice cream". That was the prosecution's "theory" despite it being disproven countless times but the media ran with it and have been pushing it for years. There's no excuse to be this ignorant, except for maybe laziness. The full trial is available now so I suggest you watch it.
