I posted this elsewhere but it's worth repeating here. Wow, it's hard to believe this railway remained unknown to me until recently. Now I'm working through a playlist of videos about it! The amount of work required just to keep it clean and tidy is huge. To think of the hours it must have taken to construct just blows the mind. When I lived close to Bekonscot in the UK I became quite involved there for a while so I appreciate just what goes in to a project of this size. I also appreciate you stopping short platform so we can see the station rather than simply the track beyond. Excellent video thank you very much.

Somebody like you, having worked on a project as large as this, can appreciate the many hours it takes. 99% of the effort put into building this layout was a one person job. I thank you for the recognition you are giving this project. It will keep me going for some time with renewed enthusiasm. If fact I just finished a 65 meter track expansion today. A video of this addition will be soon on my channel. Stay tuned.

You're too modest. The creation of something truly outstanding is always a combination of hard work and creative brilliance. I just turned 76 yesterday and I wish I had 10% of your energy and creativity.The old 'adage' states that "Nothing is impossible for those who don't have to do the work.", and your hard work has created an incredible refuge for me to escape the difficulties and pressures of the real world and take a short 'vacation' in your incredible world. Thankfully I can enjoy it without having to devote all the hard work that went into it! Thank you over and over for sharing your creation with us.@@Landsend-Railroad

Thank you Mike for expressing your sentiments and appreciation. I know exactly where you are coming from. The work necesessary to build and mostly to maintain such a large and detailed garden train layout is indeed taking a toll on your joints. I too can tell. Start with the perfect, huge yard, then invest countless hours planning and constructing what is surely a top one-percenter outdoor railroad, and this is what you get. The video is superb as well. Would love to see it on a moon-lit night, or perhaps at sunset. Such a work of love. Living north of Seattle, I’m challenged to imagine a garden railroad in this wet climate.

I agree a dusk run would be sweet. Even more so would be a night run if you have working lights. What I would love to see tho is your GoPro mounted to the gondola going up and going down that is what I am really waiting for. Amazing job on this backyard train. Very amazing.
@Landsend-Railroad
@Landsend-Railroad 4 жыл бұрын
@@gozerdozer9443 A dusk run is not easily done. At several points the camera would look straight at the sun. There are sections of the layout that are illuminated very well and worth a night run. The majority is in the dark and would make a very boring video. And for the camera riding the aerial tramway, the weight bearing of the installation is not up to the weight of the camera. I will keep it in mind however.

@Landsend-Railroad
@Landsend-Railroad 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonypearce1876 Thanks for your time, watching and commenting. Snow can be a bit of a challenge. I do have a locomotive with an attached plow blade, and it works, but only on dry and lighter snow (up to a couple of inches). I had a video on my channel showing the plow in action. Viewers loved it (500 000 views), but I had to take it down, some background music was claimed as copyrighted. When it tends to freeze over all traffic comes to a stop. But that applies for the Vancouver traffic as well...

Gold was found in the Yukon at Dawson City (the Klondike gold rush), but that was in 1897. The WP&Y Railroad was build to make it accessible, but it was too late. When the railroad was finished the gold rush was over. Gold mining still goes on but it is hardly profitable.

I love seeing the other trains and the trolley moving around! The brake release noise is really cool, and I love hearing the horn! I still wish there was a bit more soundscaping though. If you have a 360° camera, I wonder what this would look like in VR. Anyone who wants to see the train could not complain about that! Also maybe they should not let the skateboarder with a broken arm and sprained knee out of the house - obviously doesn't have a great track record.

Wow what an incredible layout, I can’t imagine how many people it takes to maintain this railway, all the pruning of every living miniature tree,keeping the tracks clear of debris and the time it took to put it all together, it’s remarkable. The fact that it’s outdoors and has to be able to withstand the elements is mind blowing. I would love to see a birds eye view of the whole layout, they should do some drone footage. The detail and truthfullness to Scale is just unbelievable...it would be a daily job trimming everything...and by the time you got to the end it would be time to start again....A bit like painting the Sydney Harbour Bridge...once theyve finished painting it...its time to start again

It was cold and my dad was driving too slow so I had to take charge and told him to move over or we will never get there on time. Of course we were late; I didn’t have a driver’s license yet. I was 10 when my parents sold the bus. Sad day indeed. I watched it drive away. However! When I was born, the local VW dealer presented me a $100 bond or something like that. At the age of 18 I cashed it (teenagers) and made an extra $26, a total of $126 in all. That’s awesome about your VW bus experience!
