Did the trucks on the shovelnose engines come off of LGB Alco diesels? Or did you construct those also?
@Landsend-Railroad10 күн бұрын
Yes and no. I bought 4 trucks from LGB America when they were still in San Diego. These were replacement Alco motor blocks complete with the wheel sets. I had to build the side frames. They are constructed of brass just like the rest of the locos. This was necessary because the trucks on the Shovelnoses are optically very different from the Alco's.

@Landsend-Railroad I am noticing now that they are different. Those engines look really great. I'm impressed that the paint came from the white pass shops!
@Landsend-Railroad8 күн бұрын
@@Rhoads9547 The white Pass people were very helpful. They were also quite impressed when I took the engines up there to show them. I had built the #90 and the #93. At first sight they look very much the same, but when one looks closely, there are many small differences. I duplicated them all, especially where one can see them. Thanks for your interest.

WHAT must it be like to have that amount of space; that amount of time; and that amount of money ??
@Landsend-Railroad13 күн бұрын
It is wonderful, but hardly a millionaires dream. Almost all properties in the suburbs are 1 acre in size. At 90 years of age I am long retired and have enough time to spend on my hobby. Everyone is given 24 hours a day,. It's what you do with that makes the difference. And for the money: If I drank a couple of beer a day, or if I smoked, I would have spent far more money over the last 45 years. That is the time I spent to gather this collection. I had to buy the track, true, but everything else you see I scratch built from the ground up. I hope that answers you questions. Appreciate what you see and don't be jealous

Does the train whistle sound automatically before going across a crossing? or is it independently controlled by you? Edit: by the way I throughly enjoyed the train ride. Just Awesome!
@Landsend-Railroad13 күн бұрын
Yes, the train whistles automatically when coming to a street crossing. A magnet near the track triggers a reed switch on the engine. Thank you for commenting.

absolutely incredible.....only 400 meters? Tell me if you want help to clear the pond water....I can help.
@Landsend-Railroad17 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment and thank you for your offer of help. We have fish in that pond and the heron, a frequent visitor, is having a hard time to see the fish when it is murky. The fish are healthy and don't care about some turbidity.
@rogergags17 күн бұрын
@@Landsend-Railroad The turbidity is one thing, but you can easily end up with a low oxygen situation that will kill the fish.
@Landsend-Railroad14 күн бұрын
I am aware of that. We have fish in this pond for 21 years and never had a dead fish. Our frequent rain and the fact that I have arranged for the rain water to be channeled from a large deck into the pond helps to supply plenty of oxygenated water Thanks for your input anyway..

Hey bro Is this ho scale train or something else
@Landsend-Railroad20 күн бұрын
HO is considerably smaller, I have G gauge. The distance between the rails is 45 mm. G stands for garden trains, that covers a collection of scales: 1: 32 (Standard gauge 1,435 mm), 1: 22,5 and 1: 20.3 (Narrow gauge, 1 meter or 3 feet respectively)
