Join me for a cab ride on three Canadian Pacific SD40-2's from White River Ontario to Marathon Ontario on the CPR Heron Bay sub. This ride was authorized by CP management, and drove us to the west end on White River yard to ride with the crew of train #431. The first 3-1/2 minutes of the video tape, is from the second unit #6033, of the crew setting out and making up our pickups. Then head down to the mainline. The rest of the video is shot from the lead unit, #5789, is all mainline action on the Heron Bay sub. We catch a glimpse of Lake Superior as we come into Marathon, where our trip comes to an end.
It was a great day, and the CP management, and the crew couldn't have treated us better. Out standing bunch of guys.
As of May 6th 2021, doing some research, the status of these three locomotive's is,
#5789 retired. Rebuilt as a SD30C #5014...
#6033 retired 1/14/2020
#6035 rebuilt into a SD40-3 in 2017
If this cab ride video proves popular, I may post a video of a cab ride on VIA Budd cars between White River and Sudbury Ontario, and one on the coal hauler, Escalante Western in New Mexico.
Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed it.
God Bless
