I love cabbage and I always fry it with potatoes and sometimes smoked sausage. This is one of my dog's favorite too, believe it or not!! I like to brown the cabbage a bit. I sure need to try this recipe!! God bless you, Becky✝✝
@drzorbo37709 ай бұрын
Fried cabbage is one of my favorites. After adding some oil and the cabbage to the pan, I add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of water and cover the pot. This quickly steams the cabbage and the water evaporates when I take the lid away to start the frying (minimal/no spattering). Some thinly sliced onion can be added to the cabbage at the start. Like you, I like smoked sausage or, for a special treat, add some old ham seasoning pieces!

I make a very similar cabbage soup as Becky's recipe... love it! But I, too, like fried cabbage... I make mine most often though, with just onions, and let them caramelize just a bit, with nothing else but salt and pepper... and there's a baked Scandinavian dish where you stir in sour cream, salt, pepper, and dill to the cabbage... Cabbage is SO yum!

I made this Cabbage Soup recipe today, (Sunday), St.Patricks Day. It’s very warm here today, in the agricultural area of the California Central Valley, so I’m not turning the oven on to bake Irish Soda bread. Instead I thawed out a previous baked loaf. Everything tastes and smells juuuuust wonderful. Thank you Miss Becky. This will be a saved and repeat recipe. Lord bless you.

Just had to stop by and share that my dad loved this soup. I was trying to find something to make my dad for dinner and I found this soup. I made it a couple months ago and put the leftovers in the freezer. He’s already had two large bowls and said it’s better than most restaurant’s soups. My dad loves soups and almost always gets soup with his meals when he eats out.

Thank you for this great recipe. I’m the only one that likes cabbage but I’m still going to make this for myself. I actually went to a catholic school and it was called St. Patrick’s and so was our church. Fell in love anything Irish and even tried the jig. LOL. I wish today’s kids were more oriented to church and all it offers spiritually and mentally. When times are tuff I always rely on my prayers. You’ve got a very soothing voice and I love listening to you. God Bless! 🙏🙏❤️❤️

Miss Becky, I just want to say I made this soup with ham and chicken broth, Did everything else just as you instructed. It was wonderful and full of flavor. Learned something very important! when you finely dice those vegetables, instead of overwhelming the cabbage they add tremendous flavor. and the ":better than bullion" just made it. Ty from a grateful student.

Becky, this really looks delicious!! I don’t like mushy cabbage but this looks like you can control the cooking so it’s not over done. I always fry my cabbage crisp tender. Then when it’s about done I mix up cider vinegar with sugar and add to the fried cabbage. I serve it with crispy bacon on top. It’s really good. 💕🙏🙏
