How would it be sitting on the cot when the foot section is folded in and the head section in upright position -- with padding added to cover frame and leg stuff? I would be using this in a minivan and it appears convenient to fold up while remaining in the van providing a 3rd use -- chair mode in addition to bed and lounger modes. Perhaps the missing legs in REI cot provides an advantage here?

Good point but you would be sitting on the frame when you fold up the bottom and it would be uncomfortable, unless you added some pillows or padding on top of it. I hadn't thought about folding it up some for tight situations. In my opinion and based on how I use it, I would have it completely unfolded for sleeping, then either fold it completely up and put it out of the way during the day, or go ahead and lock the back in place for sitting on it, but you will still have to deal with discomfort to some degree when sitting on the bottom side of the lower section of folded up. Not at all. It's now my families favorite cot, due to the set of legs at the feet of the cot that keeps it from flipping up when someone sits on the end of the cot. Rick

Thank you for the compliment. Honestly, I think they will both sleep the same, the one advantage the Cabela's Lounge Cot has over the REI Kingdom Cot 3 is that it has an extra set of lets so you can't tip it over when sitting on the end where your feel are. I have seen the REI cot flip up several times when people try sitting on that end. Also, the Cabela's cot has adjustable legs for uneven ground, so at this time, I would lean towards the Cabela's cot, but I'll let you know how comfortable it is tomorrow morning. Rick

I slept all night in the Cabela's Lounge Cot last night, but I always add a 3" memory foam on top, with twin size sheets, and then add a un-zipped sleeping bag and blanket on top, depending on the temperature. I slept just as comfortable as I have with the REI Kingdom 3 cot, but I would give the edge to the Cabela's Lounge Cot for 3 reasons. 1. It has the extra set of legs on the foot of the cot. 2. It has adjustable legs. 3. It has a great carry bag, which makes transporting it much easier. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Rick
