The burning question.. NO I am not part of the mile high club🤣
Hey guys! I hope you all loved my Cabin Crew Q&A!✈️ I do get a lot of various questions daily on the subject of cabin crew, so I thought it was perfect to make a KZbin video solely about my experience as a British Airways Air Hostess!
Overall, I absolutely loved working for BA as Cabin Crew, but as always, there is always some negatives to bare in mind! There is no denying though, that it was a once in a lifetime experience, which holds memories for life🤍

Honestly the turbulence part is so true , I would be so scared before and then you realise the plane is able to withstand SO much after 1000 x flights 🤣 Regardless best year of my life as I can never revisit the cockpit again and once you get the flying bug, it will never leave you 💕

Bless you, this was so nostalgic! I was Gatwick crew as well. @@Chalize yes I did, I’m currently going through the employment checks etc it’s so stressful honestly. I’m so worried that a previous employer says something negative - I left employment because some of the companies I did not agree with their morals etc and I’m hoping they don’t hold that against me. One my references that I done a lot of just voluntary work for to help him when starting out and was to expand my skillset. He’s completed it and returned it so that’s one down. Fingers crossed 🤞 I have to send my licence but it has on it my property address I own with my husband, I am now at another address but it’s not a permanent address until my house sells so it’s stressful. I’m praying everything goes ok.

@@RhododendronRevamping hi London heathrow mainline long distance. Unfortunately due to the agency who does the checks emailed me and said it was complete then BA called said they hadn’t received it so I have been waiting for almost 1 year now. I’ve spent so much money as I’m Scotland and I’m afraid all the checks I’ve had done will require redone, the one thing holding them up is because I’ve gap in my employment as I said to them I’m a mother of an autistic child there were times I would have to be present. They then asked gap references about benefits?! I was so angry this isn’t a thing you discuss with anyone it’s private like your salary etc. i have a disable child so yes I get benefits but all they said is we wouldn’t know that, so they refused to accept that and wanted another gap that would know. I’m at my wits end with it now. I’ve put so much time and energy into going back and forth to London to crewe for testing out of my own pocket and they are stuck on was I receiving benefits when I was off being a mother. Sorry for ranting there but I’m so frustrated and confused why that would be any different if I was a mother who had no 5 years of HMRC data I have just some gaps. I wish I had applied a few years ago as I was in 2 jobs 8 years then 7 wouldn’t been a problem. I have yet to get to the 6 week training never mind to the skies. I’m just wondering if it is worthwhile now.

@@gemmamahonx6442 It was an online assessment so I had a roleplay and final interview with British Airways. @silverharford6118
@silverharford6118 Жыл бұрын
@@joeyjohn5277 The roleplay was customer service based, so I was an employee in a game store (lazer tag, paintball, escape room etc). A customer came in for her allocated time slot however, there was a technical problem so the activity she booked was unavailable. I had resolve the problem and satisfy the customer. (I can’t remember what I exactly said but something along the lines of explaining the situation, offering her a different activity and giving her a discount). The interview was almost 3 months ago, so I can’t remember all the questions. But about 3 out of the 6 questions were to do with BA’s culture. I think one of the questions were “Tell me a time where you have been culturally aware?” There were 2 more culture related questions but I can’t remember. But yeah, there were about 6 questions in total, I can’t remember them word for word but a few of the other questions were along these lines of; - “What do you know about the role?” - “Tell me about yourself?” -work, school ect - Can’t remember the question but it was Customer Service experience related (which I don’t have lol, had to link it to school) But overall the questions were a lot easier than I expected. The culture questions caught me off guard but overall it wasn’t too difficult. It was also my first ever interview so my answers were pretty short and I did waffle my way through most of them. But I do think the end saved me as I asked about 10 questions, made sure I sounded confident throughout the whole interview and smiled my way throughout the entire interview (even tho I was 💩 myself hahah). I hope this helped and I wish you luck! 🍀 P.S. confidence and smiling is key !!!

I flew for Emirates and we were given a cash allowance for food, the more days you stayed, the more the allowance was. For example if you did a 24 hour layover in the UK you’d get around £50-£60 depending on the hotel, location and timing. Now the allowance is given in their salary. I’d assume BA is similar.

@@auroraaxel5494 did you have to live in Dubai for emirates or did you get to stay in England ?
@auroraaxel5494
@auroraaxel5494 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to live in Dubai as they’re a Dubai based airline but it just makes the job even better as you’re closer to places like Asia and Australia if you want to travel on your time off and your days off are spent in the sun, you’ve always got something to do. Europe destinations are layovers unlike UK airlines where you turnaround. Most of the turnarounds in Emirates aren’t really places that most people would want to see anyway, I.e pakistan/Saudi Arabia/Afghanistan etc etc. UK flights are also really easy to swap on to because nobody wants them. I used to do 1-2 flights a month to Manchester to see my mum. I left Emirates a couple of years ago because of covid, however I was leaving anyway due to having a baby but I still live in Dubai and honestly I would never move back to the UK unless I really had to. Best decision I ever made working for Emirates. Hope that gives you some insight as I know moving to another country is really daunting.

I don’t think you need GCSEs but try and get some experience in a customer facing role or try applying for a travel and tourism course at college, then try applying to budget airlines like easyjet or Ryanair, there might be a better chance with them but good luck and no harm in giving it a try applying to British airways!

I'm Australian but hoping to join and work for BA as a cabin crew in abt 4 years. Would they accept me being that I'm from down under? and ofc I know would have to relocate to the UK which I'd happily do

@@tashagirl5041 People do not get hired as cabin crew 'mostly through connections', this hasn't been the cases for decades and if this does happen its 0.1% of cases - the hiring pool and recruitment team are huge, its not an office job where someone can simply do you a favour. You don't know who the recruiters are going to be on the day and there is up to 45 people per assessment day and the vetting process takes months. Also, passing the interview stage still isn't confirmation of your contract, the offer is dependent on passing 6 weeks of safety training.

Still pays peanuts....If you live in London..Good luck pretending to be living the highlife when infact you have nothing but pennies to "enjoy". If you still live at home with the parents go for it but as an independant adult...Think twice!

@bradleythomas27 2 жыл бұрын
@@notwithoutpizza4702 by all means don't let my opinion put you off trying something you may have dreamed of doing. It's a great job if your still living at home with parents but in London or as I was at the time...living in Brighton paying rent, travel, monthly shop expenses and also wanting to try and live a mild socialife it was impossible as my sole form of income. The airline industry is also incredibly unpredictable and in the years since I worked at Gatwick in 2005 till 2008 I have watched airlines grow, fall, close, get bought out and transfer their operations to other airports. Take Virgin Atlantic for example in recent times, due to C19 they closed shop on their entire Gatwick operation meaning staff either got the made redundant or probably had the option to travel to Heathrow as a relocated operating base which is jus tnot practical for crew living in say Crawley or Brighton having to travel to Heathrow every week or everyday depending on their job position. Thomas Cook and XL Airways are other examples of carriers that had a good customer base but operating costs are just not realistic and eventually ceased ops. Will things get better? You'd hope so but cabin crew salaries need reviewing especially based on the base package that your guaranteed each month. I would just be careful and be sure that what the salary is being offered will cover you for the nessesities you need to pay for in your own life.
