Im a flight attendant in Qatar airways and I agree with u that the passengers that we take on board are always spitting back at our faces like the other day we were on board and I was giving food to the passengers and one passenger said that I was giving him poison in his food and he started screaming at the top of his lungs and I tried to calm him down and he started swearing at me and I had the bottle of water in my hand he snatched it out of my hands and threw the water on me 😭 I didn't cry, I didn't laugh, i just smiled and walked away. There’s this one flight attendant which was amazing! So I was on a 14 hour flight which between Sydney Australia and Doha, So you pretty much had 2 meals in that flight dinner and breakfast. Dinner was served to you after a hour once you got on the plane. Then you would have a few hours to watch movies and those stuff then after a few hours most people went to bed, in the morning once you woke up you would get breakfast so at breakfast I didn’t like anything they were serving and I was starving.. So this flight attendant got me some oat meal and some fruit, It isn’t much but it was really kind of her to do that. She made sure I was comfortable and went even got me cereal! I know right cereal!! Just in case I didn’t like the oat meal!! Best flight attendant! ❤️

@Samantha Schelovitzky I don't think so, but it's possible flight attendants don't eat the plane food and have their own stuff. So given they have water and milk on board it probably isn't that hard to have a thing of cereal or oatmeal on them. The oatmeal would just require the water to be heated.

Those wondering about that question at the end, how training has changed due to COVID19. At this time Delta classes have ceased for the time being. I do recall their was a class graduating in a week, and a class they had just started...sent them all home. While very sad they will be able to start training once Delta can afford to do so. Training is expensive and unfortunately they had to stop abruptly. Hope this all passes soon.

I am a flight attendant at one of the world's largest airlines. I have a Master of Arts degree, experience as an organizational development director at a major media company, and my own consulting practice that earns me a solid six-figure income in addition to my flight attendant salary. I’m a flight attendant because I love the job and making the travel experience as pleasant and enjoyable as I can for my passengers. I find that fun and rewarding. Most flight attendants are college educated. Many have career experience outside of aviation. I was also a training instructor at my airline for eight years. Believe me, the training is tough and intense. -- far more than most people would ever imagine (crashes, evacuations, fire fighting, ocean ditchings, medical emergencies, CPR, safety protocols, human trafficking, self-defense, terrorism, etc.). And at my airline, if you don’t pass every exam and practical check with 90%, you fail and are released from the program. In addition, the Federal Aviation Administration (in the USA) requires us to be re-trained and re-certified every 12 months. There’s a whole lot more to it than meets the eye. The passengers see about 10% of what we are trained to do. I hope no one has to find out what flight attendants are really responsible for in a serious life-threatening emergency.

With all due respect to FAs, “all this” isn’t THAT much training. And it’s far from physically grueling. There is a lot to remember though. As an FA, career wise, chances are you are actually a less than to some or many of the passengers, be it in terms of salary, quality of life, education, (which i acknowledge is subjective and doesn’t matter) skill, motivation, etc. most flight attendants would make great EMTs. Not because of their skill but their personality and composure. Being an emt is a far more respected job than being what some would consider to be a sky maid. It takes far more physical and mental work to be an emt though, but I think more flight attendants should take that path.
@ashb75254 жыл бұрын
@@colesisler582 it’s a lot of training...at some airlines 6-8 weeks with countless practical and theory exams on up to 4 different aircraft each with different procedures. During this time, only a few days are spent on the actual drink serving which is what you see on a regular flight. Not to mention coming back annually to repeat the same exams and having to prove your competence in safety knowledge before each flight and also the impact that operating through different time zone and working unsociable hours which could be made even longer by delays etc
