Thank you for showing this! Great to see where and how everything is installed. I purchased same filter for the same reason. But if you live in a city, go with carbon. They filter the exhaust fumes better when you are stuck in traffic behind a diesel. Note to viewers, pay attention to the AIRFLOW DIRECTION printed on the filter side. Check as you remove old filter to see what direction the air flows (printed on side, but usually airflow is downward)

The charcoal filter does not only "super filter your air" yes it filters better but the activated charcoal also absorbed and lessens smells from a dirty car or moisture buildup that happens naturally in your airbox when running your AC. That's why on humid days you see water dripping when parked and running your AC. So if you have that moldy musky smell in your car when you run the AC try out the activated charcoal filters.

@SuperPete2764 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your environment, if you drive in the city, very little dust, dirt, you can do it once a year or even every other year, people in the country with gravel roads, farm areas can possibly need it replaced as often as once a year or even every oil change, it is very easy to pull it out and check, I check my every oil change and determine of it needs to be or not, always have on on the shelf to just plug new one in, next time you in Walmart, grab a replacement and have it ready to go

Attention: My first try (without video) I broke right nub off glove box. (2016 durango limited) Folks on Dodge durango forum have same issue. What worked for me was using a hair dryer to warm plastic inside and out on right side of glove box. Then first get the left nub out of catch. Then while squeezing inward on right side on glove box very hard use left hand to push the back plastic. This was the only way to clear the nub (I've glued back on) . Hope this helps, mine was much more tighter than video.

I understand it seems crazy to pay that much to change a filter. But in order to make that job profitable for a shop they have to make the time and space your vehicle takes turn a profit. They have so much overhead they simply CANNOT charge you their cost of the part plus charge by the minute for the job. There’s setup and cleanup and administration and billing; of course it’s much easier to make a large job profitable, but don’t be so shocked when this is 60$. Honestly most shops charge a flat 120$ fee to start ANYTHING including diagnostics where they just TELL you the problem. Once you’ve run your own business you’ll get it.

When do you recommend to change the Cabin filter (at a certain mileage)?
@SuperPete2766 жыл бұрын
I change it once a year, unless you drive allot of dirt/gravel roads.
@Sonichu_is_watching6 жыл бұрын
Pretty much all cars advise replacing the cabin air filter every 20000 miles or once every two years.
@SuperPete2766 жыл бұрын
Lorraine, you can always pull your cabin filter out and look at it. There are lots of factors in play here. Driving conditions, off road driving, gravel road, dust and dirt and all of that where you are located. Also how much you use your air system, like for example in mild climate areas some people like drive with windows open so your filter not used as much, other places you run ether AC or hear 24/7. Also your milage can come in play. Say I put 8-10K a year, other people do 20K, so your air system can run more/year or less. So to answer your question, check your filter once a year and decide for yourself.

I broke my glove box trying lol. It’s so hard to push in
@bruviskapaluchi56223 жыл бұрын
The Autonation Dodge place broke one of the Tabs that you push in the sides to clear them of the slots in order to get the glove box out. They were just checking it! Unauthorized. I went in for a P0027 code (Engine exhaust valve solenoid). They were going to charge me $49.95 for the filter. I said no. I bought a filter online that has the charcoal for $9.87 delivered! However, IF YOU SIMPLY SQUEEZE back of the glove box with your four fingers towards the front of the glove box door by having your thumb on the outer door, it flexes BOTH “ears” / tabs inward so much more and efficiently without the possibility of breaking them. Pushing in on the sides of my 2017 R/T box was incredibly stiff. That’s how they broke it at the dealership I’m sure. My box has a sound deadener coating on it all up the back and sides of the box that adds to the stiffness too I’ll bet. SO....... try the SQUEEZE action like I did and see if it doesn’t work better with less danger of damage.

Your lungs are worth $24 a year ($2/month) or go by replacing 12k to 15k miles ($160/100k miles @ $24/filter@every 15k)... Filters with carbon are best. It really depends on where u drive and if u have any breathing issues. If where u drive mostly has bad air quality go with carbon and replace every year or less. U want to have a filter that filters out less than 5microns if possible. I purchased a carbon filter which does 3microns. Hepa filters WITHOUT carbon, filter down to 0.3microns but restrict the amount of air flow and bothers some people. ONLY Carbon can filter odors/fumes/smoke (chemicals in the air).... just a lil info, lol
@SuperPete2766 жыл бұрын
Thank. I just like to drive with window open if possible and I live in the country so pollution is not an issue and filter is really there to block thing from getting stock in the fan :), because most of the time windows open and nothing is filtering that. Appreciate your write-up.
