Definitely thinking of doing this. Did you say 4 kids? How do you socialize them? And what is the bathroom situation now?

Yep, 4 kids, ages 8 to 12. The kids are involved in groups in town, and there are neighbors within the area, so we all hang out and help each other with projects. The bathroom situation is 1 bathroom, lol. Sometimes we have to wait. Sunday mornings getting 3 girls plus mom ready for church is nuts, haha. But I love it. I do want to add on, but this is still awesome! I totally recommend it!

Four feet of snow in one night--holy cow!!! There is no fire in your woodstove & you are wearing short sleeves--how cold is it?

I know!! We got 4 feet in one week last winter, and we were definitely staying up late watching how fast it was coming down, in case we needed to head out and plow before morning. Our temps here have been mid-30s during the day. That day, I had been doing a lot of baking and cooking, and our cabin is small plus it's made of concrete, lol, so once it heats up, it stays VERY warm! We make a fire in the morning, and then if it's a baking day, let it fizzle out until night time.

Just wondering what does acreage go for up that way? Approximately... thank you! 🇺🇸

In our county, off grid and remote parcels are about $10,000 per acre for unimproved land. Its much more for parcels closer to roads, with improvements, or with access to power lines.

Do you guys work? If not, how do you get cash?

Yes, hubby does civil Construction, and I do tax prep from home and sell concealed carry purses online. The 5 yr plan is to be full time homesteaders, but we've got a way to go yet.
