These videos are incredible. Best step by step guides I've seen

Congratulations. A PERFECT job.

I'd love to see a tutorial specifically addressing the tapered and angled Fender style cabinets - blackface, silverface etc. Those front angles are tricky and deserve their own video.

That’s great! Hope I can help. I’ve been too busy to shoot more demos but hopefully soon I’ll have some better demonstrations.

Haha. Thanks! It’s not so bad once you’ve done it several hundred times. Haha. Hopefully somebody will watch this someday and it will save them some heartache if they give it a try.

I have a question, where do buy your Tweed Covering from?
@richclayton5785 Жыл бұрын
@@LatinRhemaMusic15 looks to be the MOJOTONE tweed where one side has been coated. Looks like he is gluing the untreated side. No idea where MOJOTONE gets their tweed.

That’s an interesting technique for the corners. You should do a tutorial on those.

Nice video! Quick question - my tweed came folded - will ironing fix it (talking long time)? Thanks
@FreshOldSchool9 ай бұрын
I'd iron it from the backside using steam and if it is real tweed (not vinyl) high heat. It should lay out fine if you take your time and do that. Without steam it is likely that those creases will still be there and then look bad when you shellac it. Hope that helps!

Love it! Seems my tweed inside curve where it splits has the filler patch underneath the main sheet rather than a little triangle on top. Who knows, maybe both were used depending upon the person.

My approach isn’t gospel!

Your approach is a pleasure to watch. I noticed also on my Tremolux, the herringbone pattern lines up perfectly on all seams.

Hello! Do you happy to take on custom projects? I have a wood enclosure that I just can’t seem to add tolex to properly and wanted to see if you do work like that. Would be able to pay you whatever you think is fair plus supply tolex and the wood cabinet. Best!

Fender case vid ? I have two with a weird stickiness due to faulty covering from factory but they are custom for the instruments so would love to recover. Or have to toss cause the finish is dissolving thru the covering.
@FreshOldSchool3 ай бұрын
Yikes. I’d try and save them if you can. If they are shellacked they probably didn’t dissolve real flakes but used something with waxiness in it. The real stuff isn’t tacky. You might get away with just a sealer coat.

Have you ever covered an amp with canvas? Would you recomend it? I am building myself a combo organ and am considering using canvas instead of tolex as a budget friendly option.
@FreshOldSchool3 ай бұрын
Yes! I used heavy waxed army surplus green on a few amps. Look up “The Anvil” or the “Marshal Law” at the Deluxe Amplification website. You’ll see them. Canvas has threads that can pull out and run if you aren’t careful with orientation. So use a really sharp blade and change it often. You can also shellac canvas afterward.

Ummm what is the adhesive brand you are using ?????
@utahprepper8925 Жыл бұрын
Use the DAP Weldwood water-based adhesive. It works great if you follow the directions.

Noticed you don’t use a “j” roller to bond the material. Your glue must adhere better than what I have.

IF YOU PUT YOUR BRUSH IN A CUP OF WATER EACH TIME YOU ARE FINISHED USING IT. IT WILL LAST FOR A LONG TIME AND THE GLUE JUST FALLS OFF IT.
@FreshOldSchool Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I just stick the brush in a ziplock and wrap the handle with painter’s tape and it stays wet/good until the next usage.
