0. What's needed: Cabinet with swinging door, trash bin (e.g. amazon basics 3 gallon), JB Weld, WD40, corner brackets (e.g. 2 inch), plastic sheet, tape, wood screws (e.g. #6), drill, drill bit (e.g. 5/64 inch), screw driver, hot glue gun, scrap wood or metal that can be made to mate with the top and bottom lip of the trash bin.
1. Find an appropriately sized and shaped injection molded plastic trash bin, with lip at top and bottom, with recessed pocket or lip on the top sides.
2. Check that the trash bin will not interfere with cabinet frame or plumbing as the door swing between closed and open positions. Decide and mark the position of the bin relative to the door.
3. Find corner brackets that fit the trash bin.
4. Find scrap wood or metal that can be attached to the door and made to mate with the top and bottom lip of the trash bin.
5. Draw a leveled line on the door for reference. Tack the pieces of the mounting hardware together with hot glue gun. A few drops of glue will do. Test fit the bin and maybe even door swing. Adjust as needed.
6. Identify a few spots on the mounting hardware where molded JB Weld will make a snug fit and will alow trash bin to be lifted out of and dropped back into position on the mounting hardware. Consider marking these spots.
7. Drill pilot hole and screw the mounting hardware to the door.
8. Tape plastic sheet to mask portion of door that you don't want JB Weld to bond to.
9. Position the cabinet door on a chair, so gravity can hold the trash bin at the right position relative to the mounting hardware.
10. Spray WD40 on surfaces of trash bin that will be used to mold JB Weld. Set the trash bin aside on an unwanted towel or cardboard, so WD40 doesn't drip on floor.
11. Mix JB Weld. Place blobs of JB weld on top of the mounting hardware where as previously determined the molded JB Weld will create a snug fit.
12. Put the trash bin in mounted position to mold the JB Weld. Wipe away or stuff more JB Weld as needed. Let JB Weld solidify.
13. If there is any JB Weld that will interfere with removal of the trash bin, remove the trash bin after 8 hours or so of drying. At 6-8 hours, the JB Weld should be semi-solid and can be reshaped somewhat by hand or tool. With the JB Weld in this state, you should still be able to remove the trash bin. You should also be able to press the trash bin back in place after removal, and that should clear any interference and form any interfering material into conformaty. If JB Weld isn't solid enough and is torn from removal of the trash bin. You can put the trash bin back, let the JB Weld solidify, and apply more JB Weld if needed a second time over the solidified JB Weld. Also, if the bin is expected to be symmetric, but maybe off by a tiny bit, you can turn the bin around to the supposedly symmetric mounting orientation and press down to let this orientation mold the JB Weld half way through the solidification.
14. After JB Weld is fully solidified, check all mounting orientation of the expected symmetric trash bin.
15. If the bin looks symmetric, but only snuggly fit in one orientation, mark the front of the bin, so user knows which orientation to mount the bin.
16. Wash trash bin with hot water and dish detergent to remove WD40.
