I miss them I was raised on the Derrick floor of my grandfather’s old walking beam rigs! I had a little water well rig for years but my first wife made me get rid of it!

Sound like he is getting some water. We never had to drive much pipe unless we got into gravel along a river and then only for a few feet. The drillers all over the world have adapted to the ground conditions . And most all I have met love to talk drilling like me and are willing to help you with issues you encountered .

Good handful of these rigs still up and runnin here in AZ. Im on a 36 and it’s my home away from home. Love those sounds

I like all the banging and crashing around behind a cable Tool rig . Makes me feel at home.

I am from Morocco. I work in drilling machines. I am very professional in drilling machines. In Morocco, I dig 200 meters and 300 meters. I love this work very much.

Are you running a cabletool rig or rotary ? If it is cabletool what make is it?

Good running rig. I run a 20w drilling water wells in south GA.

Very cool, I’ve been helping these guys drill when they need a hand, and it’s been very interesting to say the least. The “Old Man” that’s running the drill grew up around em, and has been punching holes in the ground since the 70’s. Sadly he’s got some memory problems, but you get him on a rig and he’s like a duck in water. It’s pretty cool.

I would love to have a 20W just to play with here in PA. But my wife will not let me buy one. I told her back when I retired I wanted to buy an old 24L or 60L to drill a couple shallow gas wells on my property because we own the mineral rights. But she said" you are too old "!!!! I am only 73!!! I told her I just wanted to drill one more well before I died ! Women do not understand how it gets into your blood ! I remember hanging on the temper screw of my granddad's old #2 National Machine. We were swinging a 45' 4 1/4" stem in the 6" hole with a 200' cracker ! When you had the motion right it would hit twice every time it hit bottom ! I was 12 when we drilled the last well for a company that bought it . He would leave me run the last half of the screw and slip the clamps for another foot of run !
