I'd say Flume more often then not uses granulization plugins to achieve his avant garde rhythms rather then LFOs which sound too on the grid

Sure - I already have! The chords and bass are ducked under the snare using the technique shown in this tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ2YlHeFZax1rJI The ducking is happening so fast that you don't hear any pumping, but it helps the snare transient to cut through. Hope this helps! 👍
