Well... now that they have announced upgrade plans to 2025, it will be nice to finally be able to get decent upload bandwidth for the first time in history. Yes, this is to yet again delay fiber to the home, however after all these years it will be nice to just have the capability. Upload, upload, upload... and of course latency is a focus too.

Similar is already here, even at the time of your comment. CASA Rphy has been out since 2021. Using a data connection instead of analog RF allows for greater distances. The system is channelized. The dual 10gig input/output to/from the RPD can be daisy chained. The launch amp can be swapped for a GPON module. The upstream can be changed by pulling out and swapping diplexers. In my neighborhood they are set at 170mbps up on an 85 mhz mid-split and its working using old wires from the late 1970s and old amplifier spacing with over 340 modems on the node. Other neighborhoods have new cabling and 33 homes passed per output (4 outputs). They will easily run 1.8 ghz with a 624mhz return. All can be easily converted if needed because they take gigabit data feeds instead of AIM light feeds. I have a 14ms ping time over wifi. That is off a repeater, that goes to a gateway and then three amplifiers back to the originating node. People might think they need more, but a lot of the time it is in their head. Also so many people don't have the gear that can handle it and blame the ISP. I'm looking at all the idiots trying to use a Playstation over Wifi.

@@Todd.T At the time of my post, they announced their plans, so I already knew what they were doing. I deal with very large raw unedited footage so yes, I really do need a lot more. It's crap like this that keeps the United States so far behind.

@@Energyone The USA is a different ball of wax. There are cable providers that can’t afford to upgrade their systems. With unlimited storage at Google, we pretty much maxed out at around 300mbs upload. Not many people can do more than that. You’d have to be on the same network. 204mh. return is enough for 2.5 gig up over cable. They’re not going to upgrade for an outlier. The real push for fiber doesn’t really have anything to do with what the customer wants, it’s the ability to reduce operating costs.

@@Todd.T Sounds like a management problem.
