Beautiful! Thanks for the tip on keeping the wires separated as that’s been one of my problems as i tend to pull hard on them. As with a lot of craft forms tension is the name of the game! Looking forward to more inspiring projects 🙏

Great tutorial can't wait to try! Only question is how did you harden the ring from where you used dead soft wire? If you don't harden it won't it alter shapes when touched?

I did not harden it, it holds its shape fine. Thank you! :)

have you ever used silver filled and sterling silver?? which would be better for wire wrapping and non tarnishing? what is the difference between the two?
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
I have used both, they both work well. Some silver filled may be non-tarnish coated, so beware if you plan to oxidize as the coated will not oxidize. The difference is sterling silver is silver all the way through, and silver filled has a core of copper in the middle, and thus costs less.

Will it stain my finger even if I oxidize it? Great video
@adas.27298 жыл бұрын
I LOVE your videos! Do you have a specific brand you would recommend for the wire? Does this copper wire cause discoloration on the skin?
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
Copper can stain the skin yes, if you want to avoid this you can use coated wire, like the kind that Parawire sells, you just have to be a little more careful with it so you don't scratch off the coating when you work with it.

Oxana, another winner! I have a question...what brand needle nose are you using to make your curls with? I need new ones. Love all your tutorials! You are so clever!
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
In this video I use the Xuron round nose pliers to curl, but they are very fine and I don't necessarily think they are the easiest to make loops with, I also have Beadalon ones that I like that are the standard size.

What size cab did you use for this tutorial?
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
I think it was about 12mm or so
@christymccullough73068 жыл бұрын
please help. I cannot get this ring to keep its size after wrapping the band
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
At what point does the size change for you? Before adding the cabochon the band should already be secure and connected together so it should not be able to change size. If you let me know exactly what is happened, I will try my best to advise.
@christymccullough73068 жыл бұрын
After i wrap the band and place it on the mandrel for shape, i go to finish wrapping the 2 sides together. While I'm wrapping, it loses shape and i can't get the wrap tight enough to keep the size. I going for a size 7 also
@christymccullough73068 жыл бұрын
This will be around 2:11 in the video
@OxanaCrafts8 жыл бұрын
I see, what may helps is instead of just wrapping around all the wire at that part like I did, try actually doing a weave so your weaving wire is going in and out around those wires, I think they will hold better that way and will be less prone to sliding around. And after you do that, go ahead and put it on the ring mandrel again to reshape it back to the size 7.
@christymccullough73068 жыл бұрын
I've tried twisting the middle wires together for now before wrapping over them. It seems to hold the shape. I'll try the other method also and let you know. thanks for your help!!
