Very thorough and complete review of features, performance and construction of the new Cabrinha X2 wings. The review was balanced with a good dose of pros and cons (thought generally minor). The high-pressure split strut and mini-boom handles look very innovative and beneficial. Overall, I was very excited by what I heard - these look like great wings.

Good call Irewe905, not quote in snowwinging mode yet here. Another couple months I think. I tend to do a waist leash for snowkiting for that reason. Not too many wrist leashes that fit well and they can fall off with your glove if you do. -Tucker

Tucker, thank you for the review. I noticed that you are riding the noise board, and I guess that you have the chance to choose between many other boards. Would you recommend the Naish Hover as a first board?
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Alvaro, Yes, I love the Naish Hover boards. Just pick the size the fits your weight, ability, and wind. As a first board, most people are best suited with the 95 or larger. Some of my other favorites are the F-one Rocket V2, Ride Engine Moon Buddy, and Quatro Drifter wing. -Tucker

Great review. Can you maybe provide some additional info on the wing sizes. What sizes do you recommend for a rider weighing 85kg who want to cover a wide wind range with 1 (or 2) wings on a floater board.
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Berno, Depends on your local winds and your foil/board setup but I would say a 6m and 4m is the most common combo for your weight. If you have to choose one wing, 5m would be most common, 6m if you live in a light wind area or don't have the ability to go out in higher winds yet. Feel free to email me at Tucker@mackite.com with your ability, local conditions, and foil/board combo. I'd be happy to make a reccomendation. -Tucker

Great video thx - dumb question, but how do you fold it up? What’s the recommended technique for getting it back in the bag???
@MACkiteboarding

I typically fold the leading edge in about 18", trailing edge in about 20", fold wingtip to wingtip, then roll to the center. -Tucker

Cabrina Crosswing X2 WARNING for snow or ice winging: due to the thick handles, using a harness is NOT optional for winter use when wearing gloves. I lent an athlete that spent the day on her 2021 Naish, mostly not harnessed in, but her fore-arms got tired in a few minutes on my Crosswing X2. However, the X2 had a LOT of power for its size. and I found it extremely stable (but a wing beginner). I started using it with one hand while harnessed in, until I had a big crash. Beginners to the sport might not like using a harness. Yes, I found this wing completely intuitive. I felt great by my second time out (third time on a wing) Also, the provided leash is narrow and can not get over gloves. You take off the gloves to put on the leash.

Awesome to hear your feedback Jack. I've had the opposite experience with cold weather. If the handles are too small they cut off circulation to my fingertips and I get cold quickly. Guess somewhere in the middle is probably the sweet spot. -Tucker
@davidsuzukiispolpot
@davidsuzukiispolpot 3 жыл бұрын
@@MACkiteboarding I am on snow and ice, so I am wearing gloves. That causes fore-arm soreness quickly. Circulation is different, Yes, other wingers have reported they have cold issues due to circulation holding the wing. Both may be a factor. The crosswing X2 was so balanced that I winged for a while with one hand and the harness, and balled up my other fingers inside my glove to warm them up... until I crashed the nose into the ground at high speed and crashed myself.... luckily it was all inflatable so no damage to me or equipment. Many people that cold-weather windsurf stop their season when the cold requires them to wear gloves since it causes this exact fore-arm soreness. It feels almost exactly the same, and the solution is the same; almost all force in the harness and very little through the arms and fingers. I don't know whether it is the diameter of the boom (or handle) and the gloves combined, or just the stiffness of the gloves, or some impact on the grip, but something causes the fore-arm soreness very quickly. I can imagine the circulation issue would be better with these handles on water without gloves since the surface is smooth and will keep that in mind when looking for a summer wing. I do wish there was a window; the blind spot is giant.

Great video Tucker. I've been following you to learn about wing foiling. I do windsurf and I would like to try windfoiling. Im a heavy rider of 105 kg and will be foiling in 8 to 20 knots average mostly in a lake, then I would like to start surfing (when I get good at it). I'm thinking in a Cabrinha Criosswing x2 size 6.0 and a Naish Hover 110 lts. Need some advice on the foil for the equipment. Will you please advise me one the gear Im looking for? Thx a lot man.
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
As a heavier rider, you'll probably want to consider a 7m in that wind range. The Crosswing and Airush Freewing 7s are some of my favorites. For the foil some good options are the Naish Jet 2000, Moses 1100, Gofoil GL240, F-one 2200, and Neil Pryde Glide XL. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding hey there, sorry I know this is an old question but I just wanted to add on-is there any chance that the 7m could be too heavy to handle? I’m 6 foot but a twiggy guy who is totally new to water sports. My local shop is pushing me toward the 7m but I’m nervous it’s just because it’s what they have in stock. Down in south florida, so light winds most of the time. Wondering if I just need to put on some muscle or if that’s a valid issue. Thanks so much for your great reviews, they’ve really helped me get into this!
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
@@nicklambrakis3628 The 7m is great for light winds. A popular choice when I go out for sure. The larger canopy should help carry the extra weight as long as the wind is adiquite to ride. Boomed wings can feel very heavy in light winds but this inflatable does not. In fact, percentage-wise, the larger wings are lighter per square meter since most of that is the canopy. -Tucker

Great questions Deigo. I guess my answer would change depending on the conditions and time of the year. Loved the Naish 85 all summer for our lighter winds, now I'm riding a 70L F-one Rocket for our windier season. Occasionally a KT sinker board. I've really been digging the F-one Phantom 1280 and 1480 foils. Real high performance but still confidence-inspiring. For wings in flatwater and light winds I've loved the Cabrinha, Airush, Ensis, Duotone Echo, and Takuma. For waves, I tend to prefer F-one Swing, Duotone Unit, Unifoil, and Slingshot Slingwing V2. Reasons to like each, not upset about riding any of them really. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding thank you Tucker! I'm a novice (being kiting for 20 years but never foiling). I'm very confused with the wing/board I should take... 😅 Wing specific board (85/90L for 70kg) or a 6' sup foil board 🙃 ? For the wing I was in between the duotone echo and unit but after your great review I fell in love with the crosswing x2 (love cabrinha quality) but no windows 🤦‍♂️ Sorry, didn't want to share all my frustration... 🤣🤣

@ Feel free to call anytime 800-622-4655. We can talk it over and figure out what is best. Honestly, windows are pretty useless in 99.9% of situations so I don't even bother with them. If anything, they can give a false sense of security when you see a sliver of the whole picture and it looks good. Easy enough to just lift up the wing or lower it to look around. You won't be upset with the Crosswing x2, super great wing and really versatile performance. At 70kg, I'd go with the 85-90L wing board. 6'0 will be pretty big and you'll wish for something smaller fast into your progression. That is, unless you want to keep it as a Foil SUP. -Tucker

Thanks for the answer. I wanted your opinion. I have the slingwing v2 4.4m and like it alot. I use the cross/transfer handle alot when riding, uthyrning feels natural and I get less tired. But nog i wnt to buy a lightwind wing aswell. But i guess i need to try them. The slingwing 6.4 or cabrinha 6m might be it. :)

That double boom looks great, very innovative! Does it a lot of weight to the wing? I would think that some of the efficiency gains you mentioned come from the ability of the wing to keep a constant foil shape.
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly Daniel, I'm sure it adds a touch of weight but not enough that it has a huge effect. The lift that consistent arc makes more than makes up for the additional weight. Feels crazy light in use. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding When you get a chance comment on what you think the light wind potential is for this new design. I know a lot of people out there are looking to replace light wind kite foiling with light wind winging, 8 to 10knts would be ideal.

Dual boom, longer handles v. too many small handles, separate bladders. Evolution of the wing. Are leech lines just not a possible option to control trailing edge tension. flutter . Early days windsurfing sail and dacron sailboat sail have simple light systems.
