Your reviews are some of the most complete, honest reviews on KZbin. The only thing you don't cover is construction and durability. Keep up the great reviews!

Nice Video! I haven't had the chance to ride the Neo. I hope I will soon. I like the Drifter's ability to be modified. There are many conditions that we kite in. Waves , flat water , park , etc... I feel that the Drifter cab be modified to fit most of these conditions. This is a real sporty kite!!

Hi Rygo, Thanks for the videos you do. As others have said, you surely have the most un-biased reviews and comparisons in spite of giving a full disclosure of what your personal likes are. Specific Question regarding North Neo: Do you know if could be ridden with Cabrinha Bar (I have the 2017 Cabrinha 52cm 1x Trimlite w Fireball) ? ...and am considering a Neo 9m kite (if the kite size will make any difference to my question!!). Thanks, Ray.

Good comparison !! When a comparison with the North Neo and Naish Pivot ;-)

Manu thanks my friend. I've got a couple Naish pivots in my car right now. I'm logging some hours on them for future reviews. Keep an eye out for that. And thanks for the great suggestion - Rygo

I have to choose between drifter 12 and neo 12, I find good sevond hand, both 2018. My home spot is 10-20knots, I am a totally beginner, I weight 83kg and ride twin tip. What you suggest?

Thanks för your vids. I've got one vursus för you: all wave kites vs all vave kites. Where do they sit inte wind window? How do they re-launch? Drift? Depower? Responsiveness? Up wind ability? And so on...

That would be an epic versus. I think I'll have to tag in some of the crew in on that one. Thanks for the epic suggestion. - Rygo

I came from the North Rebel to the Drifter. Very much an apples to oranges switch. That being said, I really, really like the lack of grunt on the Drifter. What you call less low end and greater power compared the NEO, I call much more comfortable when on the Drifter...I ride strapless on a surfboard and I hate it when the power quickly becomes too much. So I like the super manageable, playful Drifter. Again, as you say, different styles for different riders but as a strapless surf board rider, I'm super happy with the light bar and lower power of the Drifter.

Michael Samols thanks for the feedback my friend. I love comments like this that help clarify and give an outside perspective. A few people that I work with pointed out that I made the Neo sound better in this video. That was not my intent. I actually prefer the Drifter. That said, these videos aren't about what I like. I try to keep these as objective as possible but language is a funny thing. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience! I'm sure it will help someone out. - Rygo

Michael Samols That said, the Neo does let off the power very quickly. It's just a different transition than the Drifter. You should give one a try if you ever get a chance. They're different but both fun regardless.

Hello :) Awesome videos, helps a lot :D Would you recommend the NEO for beginners to make progress? Thanks.
@MACkiteboarding6 жыл бұрын
Ana Bueno Thanks! Yes, you could absolutely use the Neo as a beginner. One of the main things beginners need is a kite with lots of low end and the Neo delivers here. If you hope to progress into wave riding. This is a perfect choice. Granted, any of the all around kites will be very helpful as a beginner. Feel free to email me at kiteboarder@mackite.com and we're happy to help you find the perfect kite. - Rygo

Do you know if North Neo could be ridden with Cabrinha Bar (I have the 2017 Cabrinha 52cm 1x Trimlite w Fireball) ?
@MACkiteboarding6 жыл бұрын
Raghu Ram sorry for the delay my friend. I missed your comment earlier. You'll need to use pks line adaptors as the pigtails are not compatible out of the box. You can find those on our site. Feel free to give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction as well. - Rygo
@raghuram28156 жыл бұрын
Hi Rygo, No worries about the delay, thanks for responding. I get the pigtails and line adapters part. My question was more about the "High Y versus Low V". North Neo being designed for a bar that is "High Y", whereas Cabrinha bar is "Low V". I am talking about the point where front lines are split. Has anyone at MacKite tried NEO (or other North kites) with bars other than those of North's ? Even otherwise, do you guys know if it should matter technically?

Why do I get the feeling that sales pitch PR always ends up messing with these comparisons: They always end up the same way, both kites are great. I would love to see at least once some objective criticism. Some kites suck or the manufacturer messed up some detail. But we never hear about that!
@MACkiteboarding6 жыл бұрын
TheOldPunker hey there, my aim is to objectively compare the real trade offs between kites. For example some have a much better wind range. Subjectivity comes into play as well. I personally don't care for the Cabrinha Apollo. I've spoken with a few people who love it and I get why. It's supper Lofty. Beyond that, I personally find it useless. My goal here is to educate and help people make up their own minds on what characteristics appeal to them. It's not 2006 where it was common for a kite to just be awful. I keep a positive spin so the videos entertaining but if you listen I try to be as blunt as possible. If you're looking for more details, just ask. I'll gladly give you the skinny on anything that wasn't clear.. Nice name btw. - Rygo
@MACkiteboarding6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback as well. I often end these videos explaining that both kites are great but what I mean is they are great for some people and not so much for others. I'll try to break that down better in future reviews. The reality is that some kites are a bad choice. For example a new rider who has gusty wind and choppy water would hate the fx. While an experienced rider is going to really like it.. I hope that makes sense my friend. - Rygo 🤘
@TheOldPunker6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rygo. You are right, now that I read my comment it was not exactly fair and a bit trolish. It would be useful for us, the consumers of such expensive gear (and very critical for them to work well and provide for durable safe use), that you guys provide positive criticism that the manufacturers will hear loud and clear. For example: Major manufacturer bar wear malfunction issues that we all know about rarely are covered by major sales ops like you guys. People can get hurt, you are in a great position to pressure your suppliers. Peace.

TheOldPunker Cheers, no worries. I actually completely get where you're coming from. I used to get super frustrated with reviews when I was looking for a kite. It felt like everyone read from a script.We were really bad with our reviews just two years ago. That's why I started Versus . It's always an open forum here and I really appreciate comments like this as they help me improve our videos and make them more useful. Shred on - Rygo

I'd rather fly a sized down switchblade, than purchase a surf specific kite. I already have the switchblade quiver and there's other better gear to put your money into that will give you more difference and open more opportunity like a wing or foils or new boards.
