I was listening to this video while picking up my kids toy room and my mouth started watering for the bag of cacao nibs in my cabinet lol. I normally put them in a hot tea or coffee and chew them once they get a bit soft. But now I'm crunching on a mouthful lol

Great info another addition to my favorite library from you. Back when those who had a Harem I read all they needed was a few cups of Cacao to do the task. Certain Vines of that plant are probably gone now as with Apple's many variety have vanished. A Cornel Joe gave info on how the Oxylic Acid you mentioned when you out the Cacao inside your cheek & gums & let it slowly dissolve you feed the body this Oxylic Acid & Cornell Joe (I expect some Left Brain Spell checker to comment I miss spell Cournel) Joe states this acid as described can shrink tumor. Hope you don't delete this for sharing it. Side note A friend who's brother died of Brain Cancer told me Her brother craved Chocolate while he was dieing. The Body speaks to us knowing what we needs.

Ohhh so sad now 😪 cocoa give me a good feeling inside (I have depression anxiety) but now I know maybe why I have bad migraine ... the cocoa I am taking 😪 so sad when I found something that help me ! Wondering if it lower pression too ? I follow you everywhere thanks so much for helping us 💙

hi , I have a confusion regarding cacao powder , I usually mix RAW cacao powder and yogurt together with water to make a smoothie , but after watching your video I realized . as yogurt is made of Milk , am I blocking absorption and the goodness of cacao ? and not getting any benefits ? would you suggest dropping the Yogurt while drinking CACAO ? OR as yogurt has probiotics it actually helps in cacao absorption ? please suggest

Mike, studies show that the ingredients in milk products block the usefulness of Cacao. So I imagine yogurt falls into that category too.

Is it cocoa or cacao we have to read on the products ? I am a little bit lost for what I have to look on the products to make sure I choose the good one. Sorry my english I am french. Cocoa and cacao are interchangeable. What matters is cocao flavanols it contains.

Esther, you're talking about “Dutch-processed chocolate” and it's only useful when you are concerned about alkalinity when baking. As a nootropic Dutch processed chocolate is useless as a nootropic because the goodies in cacao that help the brain are processed out of it.

Cacao first gives me a good mood but after a few hours it makes me depressed. I guess it’s the Theobromine in it. Do you know how I can reduce the depressive effect of Theobromine? Otherwise I really like the positive benefits of cacao. :)

Great information, i been taking "raw" (not really) cacao for well over 10 years and I don't remember anyone telling me about flavanoids. I would take 1-3 tea spoons a day on average. Now I know better. Thank you PS Less is more with chocolate in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing this! Did you know that pure cocoa is high in polyphenols? This is exciting because polyphenols can suppress bad gut microbes and encourage the growth of good microbes! We need our gut microbiota to be in balance, and polyphenols can help with that!

Pedro, high heat will reduce flavanol content in cacao. Usually during processing. You may reduce it a little in hot water but if you keep the temp. below boiling you should be fine.

Milk negates the advantage of eating chocolate because it interferes with the absorption of the antioxidants in chocolate. This includes no nootropic benefit from chocolate milk.

I am using Rodelle, cocoa dutch processed, dark finish... Is that good ? I am buying it at Costco thanks

Avoid “Dutch-processed chocolate” because most of the goodness found in the cocoa is processed out. Less processed cocao retains more of the nootropic benefits of flavanols. So a good rule of thumb, darker chocolate that is 85% cocoa or more is best. The darker the better.

If you ate enough cacao to curb your appetite for an entire day I do not think you would feel very good.

Tony, get the purest, highest quality cocao as you can afford. Mars also makes a cacao supplement that is safe.

500 mg to a 1000 is a tiny bite of dark cacao, so hot chocolate I probably use 5g to 8 of pure powder.

Do you have a recommended dose in grams for Cacao powder for nootropic use? I also wonder if the anti-oxidant inhibition effect of taking it with milk counts only for dairy or both dairy and plant-based? thank you!

I also can't find any information online in regards to cacao powder dose to reach the 1-1500mg of flavonoid mark. I don't suppose you have any rough estimates?

Bonnington, the closest we can get to dosage the concentration of cacao flavanols. Cacao nibs and cocao powder are the purest and contain the highest levels of flavanols. Soyou need to check the package and find out what percentage of cacao flavanols are in the cacao powder you have. Recommended dose of Cacao flavanols for cognitive benefit is 500 - 1,000 mg per day. And you'd need a small scale to weigh it.

How much do you recommend to consume in a day? I would put it in my almond milk. I'm not sure milligrams ( 500-1000 mg) to teaspoon or tablespoon measurement ?

Cheryl, the only true way to correctly dose cacao is by the amount of flavanols. Which varies depending on the cacao or dark chocolate. Sometimes you'll find a quality cacao or dark chocolate which tells you on the label the amount of flavanols in a certain measurement of their product. So until you find that cacao product I suggest just dumping however much tastes good into your almond milk.

I used to do way too much cacao daily on top of too much green tea and it was very negatively affecting my mental health I wasn’t sleeping several times I got manic from too much Cacao

Cacao gives you headaches? Keep in mind that many major brands of dark chocolate has been found to be contaminated with heavy metals. Maybe that is what you are sensitive to?
