Damn, the early 80's was a brilliant time for music such as this.

There are so many reasons why I think their performance at Rockpalast was one of their best. The emotions translated into their sound, their body language, Roland or Curt's voice... those are just a few. Love them and always will!

Roland Orzabal created such powerful music...It's difficult not to be drawn in by the intense emotional hook this song invokes.... From start to finish, It begins by pleading & begging, which seems to build into a frustration and anger. He takes it up a notch in the flourish, where you realize he has been crying in extreme psychological pain & anguish the whole time ...Just like a small child crying out for the love of it's Mother's that has suddenly been lost forever...

Truly an amazing song. I listened to it so often as a teenager, sitting on my floor with a tape player and big squishy headphones that I still know all the words 25+ years on. Beautiful. Obviously the song takes on new meaning as an adult. How did they get it so right as 20 year olds??

This Rockpalast stuff is pure gold and needs to be on DVD. This is probably my favourite Tears For Fears cut, BUT...I REALLY miss that sax on this live version! However, the band did pull off the song quite masterfully nonetheless! Bravo, guys!

Ingenious ! ...this melancholy! This was a very special time in the early 80´s (angry, intelligent, romantic and melancholy but without descending into kitsch or depressed), as never before or since. Such creativity and force in the music scene (Tears For Fears outstanding at that time) I would like today, because time is again ripe for it!

TFF are a band that has stood the test of time how many band's from the 80's can still sell out all their tour gig's and still sound amazing I was in my mid twenty's when the came out I loved them then and now I love you tube because I can watch them any time I want something we did not have in the 80's apart from Top of the Pops,the Tube and the Chart Show every one of their song's has a special personal place and meaning for me //**\\ X

I have a funny history with TFF. Stationed in Germany 83-85, I had Songs from the Big Chair and loved it. Have had it continually since. Got Sowing the seeds, meh. Then a few years ago, Elemental, liked it. Then Everybody loves a happy ending, LOVED it. Then Raoul, liked it. Lastly, listened to The Hurting LOVED LOVED LOVED it. Now my second favority after SFTBC. And this is my favorite from it. Followed by Suffer the Children.

Great that so many younger people love TfF. I was 14 in 83 and they were my life and my sanity and seeing Roland now again brings back so many memories (good and bad, scars still linger...). I still think that his voice is one of the best ever, and the songs and texts are just brilliant! Let's make them immortal, xx

Hey okie, you are a fan of this song. It's still profound as he's talking of the internal scars left from childhood that are outside of our conscious awareness/memory but still influence us. It's an internal continuation not external...and if you believe in reincarnation....well, just enjoy the song.....

They obviously just get out of bed - just look at their hair. And Roland still even has his pyjama top on. Joke apart, it's very nice to be able to look at vintage performance of great artists like TFF - thank you, mr. uploader. I hope they'll soon release a new album after the good "Everybody loves a happy ending".

I agree with another poster; every track on this album sounds like a single.
@LittleBabyWheeler12 жыл бұрын
I think David Gilmour and his solo on Comfortably Numb is a good example. He constructed the solo such on the record that it is not so easy to recreate live, and he usually improvises his solos (somewhat) live anyways. David is extremely accurate and punctual with his guitar playing, but not that technical. His most "technical" performance would probably be the Pulse version of Comfortable Numb. Look that up if you haven't seen. Mind blowing. :) That is, if you like Pink Floyd.

are u crazy? ye's version is just his version. his interpretation. this is the real deal. without this, kanye song would not exist in its present form. it would sound different, he would not have had this to go off. must respect the forerunners. long live the music legends.

Great song. I don't know why but they perform every song on the Hurting better then the actual album. Usually artists suck performing live but then again artists from the 80's actually have talent.

Yeah, there's software called Bristol (and monoBristol) where you can emulate these keyboads on the screen. And I guess they can be played on a real keyboard thru MIDI.

he only samples twice on his newest album, so he is able to sit down and compose music without sampling, check the album credits
@CelesteK13 жыл бұрын
@com1969 Roland and Curt both had a lot of complications in their lives that warranted writing songs that were sort of dark and gruesome. They seem to let out all of their anger and frustrations with their parents and other people in their lives remarkably well here.

the hurting is debatable as being better than song's from the big chair, just another example of how marketing runs sheeples life, as to what is hit worthy or not considering it didn't do as well in the u.s.
