Hi Lynn! It's so sadenning to think about what happens to our plant family once we pass on Lynn. I'm so happy to know some of Bill's cacti came to you. On a positive note, no matter how many times I watch your videos, there's still a couple of plants that inspire me. In this video, it was that massive three headed fero beauty and a couple of massive guys around him, including the fero from daz. The massive principis (hope I spelt that right) is beautiful. The cacti toddlers look so cute in their little section. I'm sure you had an exciting day arranging the plants and thank you for letting us in on it too. From the garden city of India to the Emerald Isle, have a pleasant day. Cheerio Lynnie!

hi lynn, i was interested in seeing your old L diffusa. i grow a number of them and always look for how others plants look/develop. yesterday i visited a friend i gifted one a few years ago. somehow he's managed to grow it in shade with ferts and waterings like an african violet year round on a window sill, and it literally doubled the size of my biggest one. also it was a beautiful emerald green unlike the yellow green normal for this plant. i was shocked to see it like that, although it was taller than it was round, so a bit etiolated i think. when i water mine too generously, they have a tendency to split down the side. also, he keeps it warm year round while mine go dormant and shrivel this time of year. that might be a clue to culture, they are the most southern form of the genus, and probably are warm all year in habitat.
@desertplantsofavalon5 жыл бұрын
Thats wonderful that you love Lophophora diffusa too Bob and that you have a number of them, and WOW at your friend growing his in shade and an Emerald green color, yes mine shrivels too from this time of year until spring and it has split before and burst open with a first watering haha but it made it pup out, it definitely is something to think about as they may be best to grow warmer year round, thank you so much for sharing this Bob :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle for a wonderful new week XXXXX

Hi there again Lyn. I noticed your 3 headed Ferocactus a while back and have always wondered how that came to be as Ferocactus usually expand & grow upwards in quite a solitary fashion until they reach a considerable size. Interesting how it has offset where it was presumably cut before and not at the base of the parent plant. Never the less, it has turned to be a lovely specimen and a true marvel. When it reaches maturity & flowers, (especially around the crowns on all three heads), it should put on a spectacular show for you in summers to come. Q. Do you have any Chilean Eulychnia cactus Lyn? After months of searching I have finally managed to purchase one to add to the collection. A two stem, 11inch high plant. I find these cacti very attractive and one of my very favourites. I had to look far and wide to get one though!.

So happy you love the big multi headed Fero :-D its a big old beauty, and its incredible how it pupped out at the top after it has died back from the top and I had to cut the top off, its grown so well and a wonderful big plant, I am so looking forward to seeing the flowers on this beauty in the future :-D I don't have a Chilean eulychnia cactus, WOW they are stunners with wonderful spines on them, well done on finding one of these beauties :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle for a terrific Thursday XXXXX

That leuctenbergia is AWESOME! Biggie one!!!! Do you think top dressing would help the moss problem? Or is it just too humid to stop it? Also, I have a nice carpet of moss growing around my, yours, shulmbergera seedlings, they seem fine, I figured since they are forrest cactus that it should be ok. What do you think? And the multi headed ferocactus looks like a blessing in disguise, with losing its top and forming 3 heads, what an AWESOME plant!!!. From Morris park in the Ozarks to across the Emerald isle have a great day!!!!!!!

So happy you love the big Leuchtenbergia Clyde :-D its a real big beauty and we are so happy that we have got this beauty from our wonderful late Friend Bill, its going to be very well loved and cared for along with all of his other plants too :-D Top dressing really does help with the moss, and I have used the Molar clay cat litter on some of them already and it seems to be keeping the moss away. Yes the moss on the Schlumbergera seedlings will be absolutely fine and safe for them as they are forest cacti and it will help with their humidity levels too :-D The multi headed Fero is incredible, and I remember at the time feeling so upset when the top of it went black but it produced these amazing big heads haha :-D its a real oldie and a very special plant indeed :-D thanks so much Clyde for your wonderful comment and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and Deb an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle to Morris Park in the Ozarks for a terrific Thursday XXXXX

Hi :-D The cacti that need to be overwintered warm include the Melocacti, Hylocereus ( dragon fruit cacti) Pereskia and Pereskioposis, Rhipsalis rainforest cacti, and a few more but there are too many to list, its best to research the individual cacti / cactus plants you are growing to check on their individual minimum winter temperatures XXXX
