Thanks a bunch! It's a pretty unique challenge. Give it a shot! If things don’t go as planned, there’s always a tram to take you back down.

Tough trail for sure -- impressive hike! Socal has some of the best hiking this time of year. Hoping the wildfire clears up soon. Thanks for sharing 👍

While that is very wholesome the best part was the pull ups on the bar with a mile left to go lol.
@JustinGaerlanАй бұрын
Thanks so much! That was definitely the highlight for me too.

@@chrisbrunn3480 Ha I honestly almost did it on the way up, but decided to earn it for the finish.

Thanks so much! I'm glad it looked easy, but it definitely had its challenges. Family finishes are the best.

i can't even imagine anyone able to do that type of mega-enduro hike. 11,700 elev gain and 30 miles in one long day. And i have done my share of tough long challenge day hikes and backpacks. I always brag about my 5000 ft ele descent and ascent to the bottom of the Grand Canyon(22 miles round trip from Mather campsite). Did it in 8 hrs in 1995 when i was in peak condition. But yours beats that by a long shot. It is like the marathon times 5. BTW i love San Jacinto mts and have done the peak twice but first time i took the tramway to give me a boost. Congrats to you for your feat!!
@JustinGaerlanАй бұрын
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that. Your Grand Canyon hike sounds incredibly challenging too - 5000 ft of elevation change in 22 miles is no joke! That's a serious accomplishment. San Jacinto is definitely a special place. I'm glad you've had the chance to experience it, even with the tramway assist the first time! 😉 This reminds me of my Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim (R3) run last year, which was another tough one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXyrc2Ojnr6DecUsi=121DhN8Zfa3ALkcn

great video !! You live in the Palm Springs area??
@JustinGaerlan18 күн бұрын
Thanks! I don't live in Palm Springs, as I happened to pass through there for vacation. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. This run almost didn't happen as I was tracking a potential snowstorm. While no views were available at the top, it was good enough to get it done.

Thank you for sending me a gmail reply: One worthy challenge day hike would be the Mt Whitney day trek. That to be would be the most breathtaking scenic challenging day hike. 6000+ elevation gain and back. Maybe 25 miles total(not sure on distance). I have done a ton of long day treks all over sierras and also 7-9 day backpack trips. There is no more awesome adventure than trekking the sierras, the most gorgeous mts on the planet. I do love the San Jacinto Mts. Happy hiking!!!
@JustinGaerlan26 күн бұрын
Yeah, the Sierras are incredible. I've done Mt Whitney backpacking over two days around 13 years ago. I would love to day trek it if I get selected in the lottery. 🤞 kzbin.info/www/bejne/p33RhoN7gcmVapY

Very impressive! How long did you prepare for this? Can you do a load out video? Very very cool!! Thank you for posting this! Please post more of these videos!! :) cheers from LA
@JustinGaerlanАй бұрын
Thanks so much! I actually didn't train specifically for this, which makes it even more surprising! 😅 Most of my base training has been hiking/running 4K-6K ft of vertical on the weekends. Not sure what a load out video is, but I'm assuming it's showcasing all the gear I used for the trip?

@JustinGaerlan yes please!! keep on doin these videos!
