I bought a house, and one day I was cleaning around my property (10 acres)and at one of the property corners, I found some pots with cactus that have been just thrown out in a pile left there to die, I guess. I love plants, so not knowing anything about cactus or succulents. I just took them to an area by the house that has pee gravel so grass won’t grow. I filled up the little containers with the tiny rocks to cover the exposed roots and I started giving them water. they are doing amazing now

I love the Matucana. I have several here in Phoenix but I have trouble getting them to flower. They really like it cooler than our Sonoran Desert. I learned in a class that they need coolness in winter to set buds. I am hoping mine will set buds after our winter when it is cooler especially at night. I love your videos. You are such a terrific plant person! Thanks for all your help!😊

My favourite is the Sulcorebutia rauschii f. violacidermis - such a beautiful specimen you got there! 😍 Remember that your Uebelmannia pectinifera isn’t happy for cool temperatures. I would make sure not to go below 15 degress celsius with it - it comes from Brazil 🇧🇷 Nice video!

Oh, thank you for that tip on my pectinifera. I will remember that this winter time.

The uebelmannia pectinifera loves water and direct sunlight as it is a tropical cactus. I don't wait for the soil to be bone dry to water again, but don't water when it's soaking wet. This is my favorite cactus of all time. I remember you stating this is a wishlist cactus for you years ago so I'm really excited for you! Sending love from the Philippines ✨❤️

Some very beautiful plants Ana!!!! That sulcorebutia is eye candy!!! Fantastic!!! I'm very surprised that the uebelmannia is not grafted! From what I've read on these , that if on their own roots, they have a white coating kinda like Euphorbia polygona snowflake and you don't see the purple. I've seen pictures of these white uebelmannia pectinifera. But if grafted, they will be purple and not form the white coating. Mine has always been grafted. So it's the purple one . But then again, variation can Happen within a single species! Much like the polygonas there's the white snow flake & the green form. So who knows? 🤔 I really enjoyed seeing all your beautiful plants potted up!!! All are so awesome!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a wonderful evening!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌷🌳🌻🌴🌿🏵🌲😃👍

I remember seeing yours grafted. You said you are having a hard time keeping Uebelmannia in its own roots. I hope mine survives and grows. Daz says light will make it purple so we shall see. I placed it in an area where it gets ample sunlight. 😊

All nicely potted up, Ana 😊 My Uebelmannia lives indoors on a south facing windowsill all year round and stays purple, so from what I’ve read it’s sun exposure that dictates whether or not the epidermis will be green or purple. That one out of all the ones you potted up is my favourite, closely followed by the Sulco 😊 Thank you for sharing with us as always, Ana. Have a wonderful day and upcoming weekend from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜☕️

@@CactusCaffeine hello! I just bought one 4 days ago! I had to get it… stunning!! I got specific instructions on watering it. Different from all others! Maybe that could be part of the color, as well as light…. How is it doing now?? I hope I can keep mine happy!! ☀️🌵

Very nice Ariocarpus Ana. I've always been drawn to these, but they are tricky cactus for sure. I also have a some seedlings that are so tiny. I also seem to have fewer and fewer of them over time. I've been thinking about experimenting with grafting my seedlings of this one.
@succulentlivingbymarija88722 жыл бұрын
Nicely potted plants. Makes sense you use different soil mixture with different environment than mine for example. Terracotta pots are the best just not practical for me as I’m getting older and moving all plants twice a year 😬

My Uebelmannia is alive and doing well, so I'm going to believe the info I researched is accurate. They like a lot of sun exposure, which maintains that lovely purple color. They have sensitive roots. They like to be kept well-watered, unusually so for cactus. And they do not do well exposed to cold, which for them begins around 55°F, so mine will become a south window houseplant over the late fall and winter here in Southern California.

What do you do with the used soil? Do you ever re-use it? I love the spine formation of the discocactus araneispinus!
@paulmccarthyaz Жыл бұрын
I would like to know this as well. As I understand it, you re-pot to give it more room and to replenish the organic material. So what happens to soil that's been in a pot for a year, or maybe five years?

Why you don't trim the root while re potting?
@CactusCaffeine2 жыл бұрын
I only do it if the cactus is root bound. Here in the desert, root development is not easy and takes a long time. They get stressed with too hot and very dry climate.

Does the pencil writing come off with an eraser if we are reusing the pot for another cactus ?
@emmitstewart19212 жыл бұрын
Probably, but a little very fine sandpaper should do the job. One thing I know is that heavy rain will not wash off pencil markings. Myself, I use P-Touch labels on my plastic pots and I have plants over ten years old that have spent entire summers outside and the labels are fully intact. I wouldn't use these labels on terra cotta pots because the adhesive would penetrate the clay surface and leave a permanent mark. I always label the pots because I've been in garden centers where someone would pull the stake label out of a flat, read it, then stick it back into another flat. That's how people buy plants labeled California Wonder, take it home, and grow a bumper crop of Red Cayenne.
