I watched it by myself I didn't watch it on Max tho so I didn't know m night was attached to it until the credits and for me it was easy to follow the breadcrumbs the movie is set in 2022 not 2023-2024 and when the fight happen at dinner was one month before Anna disappeared not 3 months I don't think it's a multiverse story it's more of a time loop story with a multiverse story you tend to have someone making a different decision from the original timeline and you get a different outcome with this story certain events had to happen for the people in this timeline to exist like Paris and to save Anna in order to exist or post time jump Ellie had to steal pre time jump Ellie's boat in order to get back into the lake
