Really struggled hard with copyright on this movie, KZbin is always so random with which movies get hit the hardest and surprisingly this was one of them; sorry if some of your favorite scenes are missing as we didn't have much of a choice. "Hey everybody, we're all gonna get laid!" Rodney Dangerfield, being a stand-up comedian, had some difficulty with "Caddyshack" being his first film. It was noted that some of the best scenes were improvised. Also, the music for the minister's golf round, in the rain, was inspired by "The Ten Commandments" (1956) film.

Chevy Chase was the MAN in the late 70s and early 80s. Tall, good-looking, funny, charismatic, one of the founding members of SNL (one of the original Nightly News anchormen). He was so famous and funny, that he was close personal friends with John Lennon of the Beatles. WIth both their wives, they used to walk their dogs together through Central Park. Chevy couldnt believe he got to meet legendary musician John Lennon. John couldnt believe he got to meat legendary funny man, Chevy Chase. He could single handedly carry most movies he was in (Fletch, Vacation, Spies Like Us), even though he never had to. One of the things I loved most about Chevy's Caddyshack character is that he embodies FU money: So So Rich, he can say anything to anyone and not care. The money bought him complete freedom and honesty. "MY dad.....never liked you...."

This Movie is a Hole in 1 ⛳️ - Harold Ramis says that the Caddyshack movie functions like a Marx Brothers film with Dangerfield ias Groucho, Murray as Harpo (original Carl was going to be silent), & Chevy Chase as Chico - The Gopher’s sound effects were reused from the TV series Flipper - A big hill was built for the 18th-hole scene which they completely destroyed the hill causing planes flying by to report the explosion - According to the original script & specials Maggie is an exchange student from Ireland explaining her thick accent

I worked at the IHC years after Brian Doyle Murray and there were sisters from Ireland who'd worked there since they were teenagers. Bill Murray is a friend of one or both of them to this day. I suspect that sister inspired the Maggie character. Her husband worked there too during my time.

Caddyshack's a classic. Good effort with the edit having read how much of a pain it was to get an upload. For Chevy Chase it's worth watching Fletch and the sequel Fletch Lives. Both sorta fall into the territory of comedy/detective in tone but he showcases his style in them.

You guys are Community fans?! 😃 That's a great show! Did you know Michael O'Keefe (Danny) was actually nominated for an Oscar for The Great Santini the year before this movie came out (alongside Joe Pesci, no less). If The Great Santini isn't on your list of movies to watch it should be. Robert Duvall is great in it, he really makes you hate him. Ted Knight (or Tadeusz Wladyslaw Konopka, as he was known before he changed his name) was a soldier before he became an actor and earned five battle stars serving in Europe in WWII. He was hilarious on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

1. Chevy Chase and Bill Murry hated each other. So much so that it came to blows when they were doing SNL. Getting them together here was a miracle. Much of their scene together was ad-lib. 2. FUN FACT: This was Rodney's first movie and didn't know what "action" meant. So, the director (Harold Ramis) just told him to do your thing. 3. IRL Bill Murry is almost a scratch golfer. He plays in many celebrity events. 4. The caddy master is played by Brian-Doyle Murry, Bill's brother. 5. I play golf and Rodney's antics wouldn't be allowed. The Marshall would be there immediately. 6. Rodney movies, "Easy Money" and "Back to School".

"Caddyshack" editor, William C Carruth's, mentor, Verna Fields, was the legendary editor of "Jaws". She had the reputation of being able to take seemingly incongruous, disorganized clips of film, & make them into a successful movie. When the editor of "Caddyshack" got the "basket case" of film from the ostensibly disastrous production which was "Caddyshack", he called his mentor, Fields, out of retirement to help him salvage the movie. She came through, & the rest is history!

Hey, Ray: Mom says if you don't do a better job on the windows next time, she's gonna quit your housekeeping service. This is the ultimate 80s goofball comedy. Almost all of the tropes started here. Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield - and it is an absolute showcase for Dangerfield's best insults - and Bill Murray are fantastic in their roles, but observe Ted Knight: the man could play the best outrageous, scenery-chewing villain to a 'T.' A great character actor. "WELL? We're WAITING!"

The reason there was so much dharma with Danny and Maggie was the original script was a drama about their relationship and pregnancy. They basically told Close Dangerfield and Murray to just be themselves. When the director saw how funny they were, he told them to just have fun. Most of their lines were improvised. It quickly went off the rails and became the comedy it is..

_Caddyshack_ was the first movie that Harold Ramis ever directed, and the behind-the-scenes stories of how that movie got made are, in my opinion, even BETTER than the movie itself! For example: 1.) _the producers of the film took all of the golf course employees out to a fancy dinner (at a location many miles away from the golf course in Florida, where the movie was mainly filmed) so that they could blow up a few of the "extra" holes which they had made for filming. This was because the golf course had refused permission for them to use explosives on the property._ 2.) _The scene with Chevy Chase and Bill Murray was completely ad-libbed and was a last-minute addition to the film; in fact, the scene was only included because the movie studio executives insisted that they have the 2 biggest comedy stars IN THE WORLD AT THE TIME - who happened to be in the same movie - in a scene together. This was SERIOUSLY risky, as the last time that Chevy and Bill had been in the same room together (backstage at Saturday Night Live), they had wound up in a fistfight._ 3.) _A hurricane rolled through where they were filming, but the cast and crew (not knowing any better) decided to get plenty of booze and party their way through it._ 4.) _Cindy Morgan was actually blind as a bat without her glasses or contacts (which, back then, were glass). Unfortunately, when it came time to shoot the pool scene, she was unable to wear her contacts as they had scratched her eyeballs and they needed to heal; so she basically was walking around the patio blind as a bat, only to climb the ladder and do one jump for her part in the scene - the actual dive was done by a professional._

After this, a year or two later, Rodney starred in his own movie: "Easy Money", with Joe Pesci that is freaking hilarious. I know everyone says "Back To School", which is ok, but "Easy Money" is closer to "Caddyshack" and "Animal House", "Back To School" is watered down Rodney for the late 80s, which was the lamer part of the 80s (when it came to mainstream comedies.
